Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat offers self-contained, Melanesian-style villas overlooking a lake and surrounded by 10 acres of tropical nature reserve. It is 300 metres from the beach in Hervey Bay.
All the villas of the Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat come with kitchenette facilities, private balcony, air conditioning and TV with DVD player. Guests enjoy 100MB of free WiFi on their first day.
The resort has a swimming pool and barbecue facilities. There is a restaurant at the front of property and all tours can be booked through reception.
Close to the Sanctuary Lakes Fauna Retreat you will find the Urangan shopping centre and the fish co-op market.
All I can say everything was wonderful, it was the most relaxing place I have ever stayed and I would go there again, the staff were really friendly and went out of there way to help me, with books for sailing and the limo to take me to the coach station, when the car was late Gez was going to take me herself. the villa was spotless and everything worked. the whole place was wow all the and all the wild life.all reviews
We will def be back we loved the turtles oh man the were every where... We found one night stay here was just not enough .... So relaxing beach prob 75 metres up the road pool was awesome after a run and all self contained with was the best .... Nothing better the relaxing on the verandah having a beer of a night relaxing over looking the pond!!! .... No miggies or mosquitoes which were excellent!!!.
Loved the fact that we had our own space, rather than being in a multi-
storey type holiday apartment. Having so much wildlife on your front
door (literally) was teriffic for us animal lovers. Was great that the
beach was only 300m down the road, and the staff were awesome with any
requests or local information. It truly was a lovely place to stay,
especially if you have a family!.
Brad at reception was excellent. Motel very well equipped and situated in the most tranquil surroundings. We loved the idyllic view, the bird life and the number of turtles swimming in the lake just metres from our unit. All went towards a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. We loved this place so much and were sorry our itinerary did not allow for any longer than 2 nights.
Fabulous place to stay and each lodge looked out onto the lake which had plenty of ducks, turtles and one or two eels! A great place with a really friendly couple and Tozzer the dog who could sniff out toast at breakfast time from a mile away. A great place to stay and see Australian birds. Excellent - close to shops and restaurants too. A great Experience and I loved it.
The rooms were spacious and clean, everything there that was needed. A great welcome at check-in and the birds, wildfowl and turtles were a delight, if noisy in the morning! Great location to find places to eat and so handy for the whalewatching boats in the morning. Fitted our requirements to a 't' and would happily come back! A real treat.
The lakeside setting and natural environment for the turtles and wildlife. The owners who allowed us to keep our room while we visited lady Eliot island for three days, and Fraser Island is also a must do. Sitting on the decking at night was very relaxing after a full schedule. Thanks for your hospitality.
All kinds of birds in a small lake within the accomodation area gave a feeling of being in the middle of nature; friendly and helpful staff; accomodation close to restaurants, shops and esplanade; small swimming pool available; laundry facilities available; starting point for trips to Fraser Island.
We liked everything. My husband and I took our three grandchildren aged
10 and 12 and we all loved it there. Great setting around the lake, we
got great photos and video feeding ducks, turtles and eels. Can't
wait to go back. Lovely friendly staff very helpfull. We really
recommend this place.
Individual lodges with outside deck, directly overlooking lake, stayed
for 4 nights with a gap in the middle to go to Lady Elliot
Island.Owners very helpful, allowed us to keep our lodge without
payment, while we were staying on Lady Elliot Island. Would definitely

The kids loved feeding the ducks, turtles and eels that where right outside our room as the pond snakes its way through the property.
The managers gave us free food on arrival to feed the animals and refilled the bags with no hassle when the kids would go back.
Top place, really loved it. Nice setting amongst ponds and animals,
owners are lovely and kind not to mention the great location and the
great price. The unit was clean, modern and comfortable. I really
enjoyed our stay and would heartily recommend this place.
Desley and Brad were very friendly and welcoming. The setting is marvellous, the bungalows nestled beside the lake and the wild life so keen to be fed, it was a nature lovers paradise to be able to feed the turtles, ducks, water hen and eels from our veranda.
The serenity , the staff, and the beautiful birds. Our kids had the mist wonderful time feeding the ducks swans and turtles they just loved it . Excellent value for money they didn't want to go sightseeing they just wanted to stay and play at the lake !.
lovely staff, really nice and clean and airy and spacious. it was a little bit removed from everything but not so much that it was hard to get anywhere / do anything.... was a really nice downtime stay. loved it. peaceful! Nature, beach, quiet!.
The owners were very helpful and accomodating. The lodges sit on the side of the lake making it very peaceful but fantastic for children. The ducks and turtles are very friendly and our child loved being able to feed them and watch them swim!.

The lakes, birds,ducks, swans,dogs, owls, trees, flowers, bushes, grass, houses, owners,and everything are so lovely, quiet, elegant, wonderful, beautiful, friendly, helpful, attractive.In a word, it is beyond description with words.
Very relaxed and quiet beside a lake with lots of ducks, guinea fowls and turtles to feed. Cabins are spacious and private. Only a block from the beach and 150 metre walk to a hotel. Beds were comfy and the kitchenette was great.
We loved every part of this place, it was so close to every thing, beach, shops, restaurants but once we were back at sanctuary lakes it felt like we were miles away from any where, peaceful and just lovely, very comfortable.
The cabins are located close to the water and the water fowl.
Low cost WiFi. 5 minutes drive to the Marina and whale watching cruises. Pub within few minutes walk. Beach 10 minutes walk. Quiet location close to nature.
Loved being on the lagoon and being able to feed the ducks, small turtles and interact with the other birdlife. A serene and tranquil place to stay yet close to shopping, etc. Facilities excellent, very comfortable.

we loved t he enviroment and all the wildlife. we loved the layout of the place. we thought that all the staff were very friendly and always smiled and had a chat to us. the room was comfortable and very clean.
The peacefulness, tranquillity, the birds, ducks and swamp hens, the lake, friendly owner, outlook from unit, close proximity to waterfront and shops and hotel next door which served very reasonably priced food.
Lovely self contained units well fitted out. Very private. We thoroughly enjoyed or stay, especially feeding birds and turtles! Management very helpful with booking tours etc. and supply free duck/ turtle food.
Location. Privacy for each cabin. A cabin! Plenty of bird life around in the day and frogs at night. If you're lucky you'll see and pat the friendly dog that lives on the property. Couple blocks from the beach.

We had the best time, was great for the kids to feed the ducks and turtles right at our doorstep. The staff were awsome and Kondari pub for a feed was yum. Definitely money well spent on this getaway....
Loved the setting, in the town but you wouldn't know it. The ducks and birds where great and the staff where friendly. The accomodation was clean and comfortable and to round it off the price was great.
The warm hospitality and cleanliness of the bungalows was outstanding. The birds and the big lake was a big treat. The owners have cared for the gardens and lake so well. Even the birds seem happy.

We loved the surroundings and the cabin, and will be going back to spend a week or two at the earliest. It was relaxing and reasonably priced, and Hervey Bay was much better than we expected.

Staff were lovely. Setting was beautiful. Could walk to the shops, beach or botanical gardens. Our 15 and 13 yr old girls loved feeding the birds and loved Dozer the dog!.

The self contained cabins that were situated around a lake was beautiful and quiet. The birds that live in and around the lake were great.
