A mile from Telford centre and The International Centre, this Georgian house was originally a rectory of St James’s Church. It has been converted to offer bed and breakfast accommodation in a secluded country location. The Old Rectory’s cooked breakfast is made from local ingredients, and includes homemade bread and jams, and eggs from the hotel’s own hens. Afternoon tea is served on arrival, with a tray of homemade cakes. Rooms all have a flat-screen TV and scenic views. Guests can also make use of free Wi-Fi throughout the building, and free private parking on site. The Shropshire hills that surround The Old Rectory of St James are ideal for walking and cycling. Guests can fish in the nearby lakes and rivers, and take a 10-minute drive to explore the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge.

Wow, You do not have enough stars! A warm welcome from Adrian followed by tea with Rosemary's freshly baked scones & cakes was the start of our wonderful stay. Our room was stunning, overlooking the beautiful garden with borders spilling with roses & traditional country garden flowers. Rosemary's homemade bread & preserves were a highlight of the excellent breakfasts. Loved all the little touches in our room - roses in old perfume bottles & decanters, kilner jars filled with yu.
όλα τα σχόλια » This is a perfectly wonderful place that really takes you back to another time and place. We loved all of the attention to details. The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the breakfast. Everything was fresh and delicious! We also want to thank the owners for being so kind to us. It was raining one morning and we got a ride into town to the conference center. That was extremely helpful and considerate! We definitely will. We were welcomed on arrival in a very friendly manner with a cup of tea and cakes. The property has been decorated to a very high standard with little items available which make such a difference eg a torch in case needed in the bedroom, real (not 'plastic') milk for drinks in the room, fruit in the room etc. Breakfasts were cooked to order and were anything you wished for. There are many, many plusses about the whole visit. This was an amazing place to stay and Rosemary and Adrian were a wonderful caring couple. They went beyond the call of duty. There are not enough adjectives to describe them. Rosemary's cake cooking was fabulous and Adrian's breakfasts were great. The grounds were fabulous and what I loved most was my room was on ground level. NO STAIRS. My score for here is 15/10!!!! Thank you for a fantastic stay and hope I can return. 1.Friendly welcome from Adrian and Rosemary with a welcome tea and homemade cakes. 2. The standard of accommodation is a luxury and it all has been refurbished with quality design in keeping with the country style rectory just a few miles from the main town of Telford. 3. The breakfast was excellent and a great choice of cooked variations and they are very flexible with your requirements I found. The nicest b&b we have stayed at. Rosemary and Adrian were friendly and welcoming. All the food was either homemade or sourced locally. The room was beautiful and very comfortable with every little thing considered! A lovely welcome of tea and homemade cakes in the garden on arrival. We would definitely recommend The Old Rectory - it was also close Ironbridge. A very welcoming couple who look after you fantastically well. House full of character enjoyed an excellent meal in a lounge with real fire, nice touches include home made shortbread in the bedroom and jugs of fresh milk to have tea/coffee in your room. Excellent well cooked breakfast including homemade bread and eggs fro their own chickens. Fabulous. The owners were very welcoming and I was delighted that they could completely cater for my dietary (gluten free-GF) needs. Delicous GF cakes and three course meal, made from mostly local produce! The room and bed were very comfty, the wet-room bathroom was great. A truely enjoyable stay, that I shall be reccommending to others!!. Everything was perfect, from the plate of delicious welcoming cakes to the vases of fresh flowers, the elegantly decorated rooms to the attentive hosts. We used The Old Rectory as overnight accommodation for a longer trip, but it really deserved to be a destination in its own right. Can't wait to go back. everything - beautiful decor, very quiet, excellent attentive hosts who made us very welcome we had cream tea on arrival and lovely breakfasts. There was three of us in two rooms both of which very very well appointed. I cannot recall staying in a better room in either a hotel or another quest house. The Old Rectory is in a tranquill setting. The hosts cannot do enough for their guests. The majority of the food used is locally sourced and Rosemary makes her own preserves,cakes, biscuits and bread. Eggs come from their own hens and honey from the hives which are both situated in their garden. It's the attention to detail that really counts at The Rectory of St. James. Comfort, cleanliness, locally sourced produce and good home made food, and rooms presented and furnished to a very high standard. Above all, Rosemary and Adrian's warm and welcoming hospitality was superb. The hotel is lovely, in a great location with lovely gardens to sit and relax, the twin room was large and comfortable, it was a little chilly when we arrived back and the elec blanket had been switched on! Heaven!! Our stay was topped off with a delicious breakfast!. Adrian and Rosemary were friendly and proffessional in everything they did. Nothing was too much for them, I was back late every night of my 4 night stay and they always left a small jug of milk outside my room so I could have a cuppa when I got back!. This is a beautiful elegant house in a convenient location for visiting Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. The accommodation is very comfortable and relaxing with a tranquil atmosphere. Proprietors are welcoming and friendly without being intrusive. Rosemary and Adrian were very welcoming and helpful; lovely garden for chilling and the rooms are beautifully finished; the afternoon tea and dinner were exceptionally tasty. Very quiet and relaxing. The best B&B I have stayed in. We felt very welcome and Adrian and Rosemary were very friendly. The house was very well presented and had a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. The food was lovely and the room was spacious and a nice place to spend some time in. Friendly, peaceful, first name basis, everything I needed, comfortable, lovely bedroom / bathroom. Good food, relaxed atmosphere ... sorry did I say friendly! I have no hesitation coming here again - This time I'll bring my wife. exquisitely clean, making us feel welcome, cream cakes & coffee on arrival ! . what a place, don't pass this one buy, we will be back in the summer to enjoy the wonderful looking gardens with a bottle of chilled Chardonay. Adrian and Rosemary have created something very special. From the minute we arrived until our departure we felt very welcome and enjoyed the ambience of the Old Rectory very much indeed. Breakfasts were excellent also. Adrian and Rosemary are such wonderfull people, looking for everything to improve your stay. A warm welcome (with home made cake), very nice breakfast and a nice chat. Also the facilities are very well and very tidy. Very friendly owners who made me feel very welcome and comfortable. Excellent facilities, gorgeous food (eggs from their own chickens and bread made by Rosemary!). A lovely location, can't praise it enough!. the whole stay was truly a wonderful weekend the room was spotless with everything you could want and the staff were great truly a great place to stay location excellent for the Gorge and local attractions. What was there not to like. We stayed five days and we were so relaxed, it was a real pleasure. food was excellent and the staff really attentive. the gardens are also really nice. a brilliant few days. This beautiful hotel is amazing. Adrian and Rosemary were just the most attentive hosts.Our room was out of this world and the attention to detail was second to none. we cannot wait to go back. It is difficult to find fault with the Old Rectory - it is a very different kind of place that operates to very high standards. Nothing to complain about. nothing. Just a small problem with heating, slightly cold but the staff made us a real log fire on several occassions. first class. A bit difficult to find. A little difficult to find at first. It really is impossible to think of anything that we didn't like!. There was nothing that we could even contemplate complaining about.!! This is a 10 star guest house!!. Nothing to find any fault with. nothing. Nothing. nothing. Needed a full set of sheets on the bed - one missing and only duvet under which to sleep (too warm). Nothing to dislike. nothing. No complaints whatsoever. only staying one night!.
