Firstly the room very pleasant I was in room four with view of the palace plump duvet and pillows very comfortable. With large shower room next door with nice decor and toiletries all yu can need although you are asked if you have any requests just ask. The atmosphere was just so cosy and comfortable especially for a pre christmas break. The Staff were so accommodating and hospitable. We especially liked the fact we could wander down for breakfast when we were ready as the pub didn't open till 1230. The breakfast was really delicious and we also enjoyed our evening meal the first night.

Our friendly Hostess Evelyn warmly welcomed us. She was informative of the facilities available in and around Hampton House. Evelyn the owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, it was clean and comfortable, somewhere you could relax after a long day sightseeing. The garden was furnished with seats for the guests and there was also a guest lounge. The continental breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice and Evelyn was happy to provide more should you require it. I would certainly visit again and recommend this hotel to friends.

We only stayed 1 night to attend a party nearby. The staff were so helpful offering to drive us to the location. The facilities in the bedroom were good and breakfast was very generous. with pleasent staff. -

Incredible place under railway bridge which looks like a film set from a movie shot according to some Jules Verne book. It feels so very Victorian and British like no other place we have been to in Scotland. The pub has above average cook (at least for Scottish standards) and is meeting place for the local community which was another great experie

Apart from the breathtaking view from the hotel window , the whole place has a welcoming feel , with attentive staff making it a lovely stay . The bar area was lively and the meals were good value for money . The rooms have been refurbished and the bathroom fittings are all brand new and modern. The location is ideal as it is 5 mins walk , albeit up a steep brae , to the railway station with frequent trains into the capital . If you liked the film Local Hero then you will love this hotel !
