Less than a mile from Gateshead’s MetroCentre, Europe's largest shopping mall, this charming hotel offers comfortable, well-appointed en suite accommodation with a nautical theme.
The Rowers Hotel is also very close to Newcastle’s city centre and the Quayside. With the hotel as a comfortable base, you can enjoy cultural events at the Sage Gateshead or at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. Alternatively, you could experience Newcastle's vibrant nightlife.
The hotel’s recent refurbishments have created luxurious surroundings, but the atmosphere is always homely and relaxed. The Rowers' décor is nautical, to reflect its riverside traditions. Oak panelling throughout adds a warm, traditional look. There is a pleasant, sunny conservatory overlooking the gardens. All of the en suite rooms have a TV, radio and tea/coffee making facilities. Free Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout.

Location was good as quite easy into town. Staff was courteous. Nothing - I was tho only one booked in for the night !!!!!. The chef who showed us to our rooms. closed bar after 9pm. location. Bed up agianst wall on one side, room very hot during night. Hotel is very tired definitely needs a facelift ie broken chairs in dining room thin towels and tablecloths bedroom furniture damaged or broken . Understaffed. (The ones that were there were good.). Hotel was locked on my 20.30 arrival.Had to phone then wait 10mins for staff to arrive.Hotel restaurant was not open that evening and I had to find external facilities to eat. Needs uplifting a little. Real ale in the bar would be an improvement. Only one member of staff on breakfast on Saturday which meant we waited 50 minutes. Part of cooked breakfast on Sunday was cold. New owners, firstly breakfast was awful, very greasy, one day run out ofmushrooms, the next day juice and beans, Limited selection. No hot wateron second day did not turn on bolier. No loo paper changed in rooms. Didnot really chat to clients that much. Did not give receipt, did not giveoption to pay buy cask instead of credit card. The room was far too hot and uncomfortable even although we turned heating right down and we were also above kitchen which did not help the heat, we ended up opening the window which did not do too much for the temperature as it would not open fully. Also the bed sheet was stained and there was a toenail cutting on bathroom floor. (No Shower either) The stair bannister was loose. The shower space is too old to use it.Shaving light did not work or bedside light, no toilet roll holder, seatof toilet grubby, bedding was not irined or had not been changed, showerhad mould around the sealer, no food was available, the carpet andfurniture out of date, television channels in no order - it was not agood hotel. Everything. The banister on the stairs was loose. The carpets dirty thebread at breakfast mouldy. No orange juice. No cereal. The shower wasfilthy and the toilet smelt of stale urine. There was thankyou cards indinning room but for previous owner. The bedding was old and stained. The staff were out of the building mostof the day and night so it was difficult to check out and impossible tocheck in late at night. This is not a hotel that has any service.
