Dating back around 350 years, Yalbury Cottage is situated in the village of Lower Bockhampton, 2 miles from the historic town of Dorchester. It offers a restaurant and free Wi-Fi. Each room at Yalbury has views of the surrounding countryside and its own bathroom with a bath, a shower, toiletries and a hairdryer. Guests can also enjoy tea/coffee making facilities and flat-screen TVs. The restaurant, with its fireplaces and beamed ceiling, serves French cuisine made of fresh, local produce. Guests can also enjoy a drink in the lounge and a full English breakfast is served every morning. Dorchester Train Station is just 3 miles from the cottage, Weymouth is a 20 minutes’ drive away and Poole can be reached in a 30-minute drive. Parking is free at Yalbury Cottage.

What did we like - Everything! Warm and friendly welcome just like welcome visitors. We had a beautiful room in a wonderful thatched roofed home which also had really nice outdoor seating areas. The town and surrounds were wonderful with beautiful walk trails. Could it get better, yes! Dinner was amazing! Well done Yalbury. Jamie and Ariane love the cottage and what they do which is wonderful to see. On a sunny day it's so relaxing to sit in the garden and enjoy the countryside with a good local beer. The local produce and Jamie's menus are amazing and wonderful value for dinner. Rooms are clean, bright, nicely decorated and very relaxing.

The room was spacious and very comfortable. Would love to return and would definitely recommend to family and friends. Yalbury Cottage is an excellent hotel with friendly staff and a really good restaurant. Rooms are well appointed with many little extra touches like cafetiere coffee and homemade biscuits. I would certainly recommend this hotel. A beautiful Thatched roof cottage style guesthouse in a lovely rural location. Owners, Ariane and Jamie were very hands in ensuring guests were very well looked after. A small complaint I had was dealt with very effectively. As usual Yalbury out performes the very best in every way. With its simply stunning food and home from home welcome this establishment is in a class of its own. Thats why we keep returning. The very english way you were treated, from the welcoming on arrival, via the GT in the lounge before dinner, to the meal services. Not to forget the atmosphere in the old buildings. Charming and welcoming reception. Most helpful staff. Superb cuisine. Great breakfast Comfortable bedroom.. Overall, an excellent experience and an enjoyable visit. This was my second stay at Yalbury Cottage. As before everything was done to a high standard. Warm welcome, lovely room and excellent quality of food at dinner. Very friendly and helpful staff. Evening meal was prepared from locally sourced produce to perfection! We were able to take our dog. Very welcoming owners. Variety and quality of breakfast. Staff, decor, food, comfort, location. Nothing we didn't like. The water pressure in the shower was quite low. Nothing. Small double bed hard foam pillows uncomfortable mattress. Nothing. Nothing. Night storage heaters but if there's no mains gas it's better to be too hot & open the window than be too cold. The shower. Nothing. Nothing negative. the evening meal was ok, but not in the same class as its price. Low water pressure meant inadequate shower. Hot water could have been hotter!. There was nothing we didn't like about it. Evening meals pricey.
