I arrived really late at night, which was very scary in such a busy city, however when i got there the man on the desk made me feel so much at ease and was so welcoming! The location is also great walking distance to most things! -
I like the atmosphere at the United Backpacker :) It feels like the fresh vibrant community of the young backpackers

1) the facilities are modern
2) very clean
3) individual bathroom on the 2nd floor was really good because I was able to prepare myself without being interrupted by other patrons
4) although the blanket was quite light it was surprisingly warm. I had a pleasant sleep during the cold Melbourne night

The Staff was really friendly and they help me with everything I needed. The Hostel is well organised and clean. They have a lot of activities going on. But at the same time, they are able to keep the hostel calm, so you can choose or join the activities or resting in your room. It is a really good place to be.

The staff was awesome. The reception staff, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, all so friendly. It was clean, and the hotel is near the station, and very close to the famous Chapel Street (Restaurants/Shopping)

It is not a luxury hotel and is at the lower end of the price scale, but it is excellent for what it was. The place was kept immaculately clean and the staff were assiduous and very helpful. They were extremely good in serving breakfast, which was another bonus, and the front desk team were very friendly and accommodating. I thought this hotel superb value. It is right beside South Yarra Metro station, which has very frequent service 6 minute to and from the central part of Melbourne.

Good standard hostel is really good value and in a great location near (one block back parallel to esplanade) Apollo Bay and within easy reach of some of the best sights on the glorious Great Ocean Road, owner/manager very helpful and knowledgeable and told me road to use to see koalas sleeping in the trees - and they were right there, fab! -

So close to Southern Cross Station for early morning departure on Overland train next day.
Close to Convention Centre only a couple of stops away on the tram for attending a conference.
I was still able to have free breakfast in the morning even though I was ready to check out before 7am when breakfast normally starts.

Location is the winning factor, hostel is in the heart of Mel CBD. Just a short walk from Southern Cross Station. All the staff is friendly & helpfull, allowed me to check in early. I enjoyed the free pancakes on sunday morning when i arrived - TQVM ALL

Great hostel.
Friendly staff. Very clean and great kitchen facilities. It felt like you were staying "at home". Would certainly recommend staying here. -

the place is an excellent option for those like me travelling with family and spending all day out exploring the city and surroundings, great and friendly service all trough from cleaning helper to management staff, facilities were much more than i was expecting for the price and location superb. -

The location, so close to St Kilda beach & shops. Only 10 or so mins by tram to Melbourne city centre. Being a backpackers', it was cheap, but comfy & very friendly. We only needed a bed & place to leave our luggage, so it suited us well. Rooftop BBQ, smokers' area. Cheap, but good breakfast around the corner. -

Very Clean, Great shower, Heater, Comfortable, Staff organised a very inexpensive shuttle bus which was fantastic and relieved alot of pressure -

The location is perfect, close to everything thanks to Flinders Station and the tram, but you can just walk as well. The bathrooms are clean, and the kitchen as clean as it can be in a backpacker. I would definitely stay again at Greenhouse Backpackers if I'm coming back to Melbourne. -

We had two bedrooms in a four bedroom cottage. Fortunately for us only one of the other two rooms were occupied the evening we were there. Their was a great choice of cereals and preserves for breakfast. -

The previous manager seemed to have been a complete nutter judging by
comments on some sites, but the current manager, Graham, is a quiet yet
friendly and professional guy. It is a pretty convenient location,
spacious, clean, relaxed, and quiet - in tune with the beautiful little
