The staff were very helpfull, and the woman in reception was exceptionally good, the room was terrific, and for the price that we paid it was great value for money. The night porter was very helfull also, he tried his best for us at the night. Tried his best to find an alternative for us. The breakfast was worth the price of the hotel itself, great choice and very nice. All the staff were friendly and helpfull, the rooms were large and spacious. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice. Right on the high street handy for shopping.

Lovely large room room no 310. i found the staff very friendly and helpful. the hotel is clean and well situated in the center of the town. the room i had was very spacious and it was excellent value for money. Room was a goood size and there was refreshments facilities. near town centre neat clean tidy room + safe parking. Service, breakfast included. The room was very spacious and immaculately clean. Also the staff were friendly especially one receptionist who was extremely helpful to me. We arrived very very late, night porter very helful.the bed was extremely comfortable!. charming and very helpful staff. Our room was massive and had a lovely king-sized bed (you could have easily fit a family of 6 in our room and still have space left over!) The hotel is very large and it seems as though they are going through a refurbishment and I hope they return the hotel to it's original grandeur. Great base for a Cardiff weekend of Rugby!. The room was excellent (large double), as was dinner and breakfast. Went to rugby test match in Cardiff. Newport most convenient location to ground at short notice.staff were friendly and helpful ...liked that the room had a bath and not just a shower unit. Hotel very well appointed for easy access to car parks; station and town centre. Proximity to town centre, on site parking, historical venue. We found the receptionist and waitress very friendly. The Staff. Food and bed comfort and nearness to train station, central. Fairly quiet despite a big wedding party. Due to it being a saturday night, it was rather noisy, we had a bit of trouble getting to sleep, had a 5 year old with us, and she did struggle to sleep. Not recomended to saty on saturday night if you want a quiet night kip!!!. The noise from revellers on the main street was a little loud but that has to be expected given the position of the hotel.Bar very small. there could be clearer signs to the car parking area.Wi-Fi should be rather cheaper or free as the hotel benefit for guests like in Japanese Hotels. Car park difficult to find. The directions were confusing and I am sure the road no was wrong. restaraunt not open. There was not a single member of staff with a name badge, breakfast on our departure day was a disaster (had to ask for tea and toast which arrived after I'd finished my meal) the staff didn't seem very competent. Was overcharged, but that was fixed quickly and the reception staff didn't seem to have a clue about anything! Would still recommend the hotel, though. The car park was difficult to find and needs better directional signage.Members of the booking complained of being kept awake due to music being played all night. Noise of the 'water pipes' / car parking restricted. Floor of room very creaky. Noise from street at night but it is a city centre hotel. (Double glazing would eliminate some of the noise but would the cost be worth it?!). very poor choice of food for saturday evening meal,did not bear any relation to menu in room. My only comment would be that the general hotel decor and some furnishings are 'tired' looking and could do with re-decoration.The price of £95 per night for a single room was not in keeping with a 3 star hotel without a view. misleading picture of what a double room with the kings hotel actually looks like.... room was nice but was expecting more...very creaky floors...Difficulty parking. Not as straightforward to have breakfast delivered to room as it should have been; this should have been possible to arrange when checking in but I was first referred to the night staff, by them to the restaurant in the morning, who had no idea why they were being asked to provide this!. Lift was out of order.TV not working, guttering leaking badly over some windows making a waterfall effect when rained. cooked breakfast selection dried up and limited by 8.40am although fresh poached eggs willingly made on request. I reported that the shower was not working correctly. Restaurant needed a clean around the fixtures; bedroom - marks clearly visible on light fittings.. could do with a thorough clean! Cleanliness is so important when travelling. Breakfast was poor. Not many in hotel and it could have been cooked to order instead of having a choice of poor quality food on hot plate. These were small issues which could be easily rectified. Better instructions as how to enter the car park via the secured bollard accessway. After checking in , I went to park my car but I was pressing the wrong button for 10 minutes before I had to get clearer information from Reception. I also did not receive a wake up call. Fortunately I am a light sleeper and woke up in time to prepare for my appointment.W arrived late to the hotel and wanted to have some food in our room. we were unable to get through on the telephone, checked with reception that we hadn't missed food and were told we hadn't so walked down to the restaurant. We ordered our food but when the waitress went into to tell the kitchen staff we heard some disgruntled sounds. The food arrived fairly quickly but the steak was very tough. The breakfast was poor. access to hotel by car is confusing due to the road being blocked by a pedestrian barrier. also the car park needs to be marked more clearly as what we thought was the car park was'nt and we got a £40 ticket. Floors and doors felt paper thin, very noisy and too quiet didn't fell safe.No staff in the bar but they did get us drinks as requested. Car park in NCP opposite was secure but we couldn't get out untill 10am.
