  Faye was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. The room was very comfortable and had full amenities. Although overlooking a busy raod there was little traffic noise even even though we had the window open during the night. Location was perfect for us with the town centre within easy walking distance. We have recently tended to use hotels and this was the first B&B we had - We got a very friendly welcome, it really did feel like being at home, the room was lovely, clean, big and very nicely decorated.   Although booked into the Ivydean we were put into the St,Andrews Hotel across the road. Owned by the same people. The owners were welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and cosy .   Located very near the train station, so it was easy to walk to. Upon arriving we received a very warm welcome. We arrived a bit later in the evening and our host showed that he had been concerned about us and had attempted to contact us to ensure we were alright. They had all the comforts of home plus a tea and coffee set just - We have stayed in many places around and about and The Gatehouse has been one of those rated at the top of our list. Our room was light airy and relaxfu. It had everything you need and a very comfortable bed. Then view of The Isle Arran from our room was wonderful. The couple running the gatehouse are so very friendly they helped us plan our days out and when your strangers to the area a thumbs up of where to go is appreciated. The choice at breakfast time is well thought out we loved the break
