guest houses, from Borneo to Costa Rica, & whilst I have been
fortunate enough to stay in some truly lovely places, it was always the
facilities and/or location that made them special, rather than the

This is a truly exceptional place. First and foremost the owners are charming, friendly and helpful without being even slightly obtrusive. The breakfast awaiting us each morning (croissants, bread, fruit, yoghurt, homemade jams) was perfect. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated (we stayed in the lovely converted pigeonnier, which has its own kitchenette).
