They were also able to check us in early and allowed a late checkout, which was fantastic for our rather hectic travel schedule. The room was small, but very clean and modern. It was central to everything and a short walk to the boats for day trips to the islands and swimming. I would highly recommend the Pousada Do Ouro.

  We had a lovely stay in this pousada. The owner speaks very good French and proved very friendly. The place is just beautiful with small bungalows, plants and a very nice relaxing area with a swimming pool, a reading place and where you have breakfast. Breakfast is quite good and with a lovely view on the garden. They even have parking - Our pousada (or guest house) was beautiful. At first we were a bit worried as the cab dropped us off down this dark street that looked a bit scary -- but then when we open the door to the pousada it was an amazing oasis of lush vegetation, orchids, squirrel monkeys and humming birds. It was almost like a small village with lots of buildings for breakfast, TV rooms, pool and sitting areas. The owners had a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and lots of folk art.
