Spend two days discovering the remote Kimberley in Western Australia on this 4WD tour from Broome.

This 4WD adventure will see you explore spectacular gorges and spot wild crocodiles as you learn of the ancient Aboriginal culture that is so rich in this region. See the famous Windjana Gorge and Geikie Gorge and overnight in safari tents.

Day 1: Broome to Fitzroy Crossing (L, D)

This morning set off on your journey heading north to Willare Bridge, we cross the mighty Fitzroy River, before arriving at Fitzroy Crossing. Travel out to Geikie Gorge to enjoy a picnic lunch before joining the National Park Ranger for a fascinating cruise through Geikie Gorge down the Fitzroy River, spot geological sea fossils, crocodiles, exotic birds and other native animals.

At Geikie Gorge you also have the option to take a longer 2 hour Darngku Heritage Cruise hosted by local Bunuba Aboriginal Cultural guides, who provide a fascinating insight into Aboriginal culture, Dreamtime stories, bush tucker, animal tracks, traditional plant use and cultural practices (additional expense, upgrade available while on tour). From here it's only a short drive to the Fitzroy River Lodge for our overnight stay. Tonight enjoy a campfire barbecue dinner.

Day 2: Fitzroy Crossing to Broome (B, L)

After breakfast this adventure takes you along the famous "Gibb River Road", once used as the main stock route for the region, stop at Tunnel Creek, an amazing 750 meter long flooded tube tunnel. Take an exciting walk through the tunnel wading through knee to thigh high water in some sections and hear the story of Jandamarra.

After a short drive, stop at Windjana Gorge, regarded as one of the classic features of world geology and a great freshwater crocodile spotting site. Enjoy a picnic lunch before the journey back to Broome, via the historic town of Derby, home of Australia's largest tides. Stop for afternoon tea at one of the Kimberley's most famous landmarks the Prison Boab Tree, once used to hold convicts. Here you will also view Myalls Bore, a 120 meter long trough built in the early 1900's used to water up to 1,000 head of cattle at one time, before arriving back into Broome at approximately 7.00pm.
