  The Knoll was full of original, eccentric Victorian-style features and was a great place to stay. The room was small but comfortable, and the whole house was very warm and welcoming. Barry was a great host and left me to my own thing when needed, whilst also being available to help and advise when necessary. The proprietor could not have been more friendly, courteous and helpful he was a lovely man. The rooms were clean and all you needed for your stay. The breakfast perfect again excellent value and you couldnt have got better in a first class hotel. Will stay there again should I have to stay in Newport.

  What a briiliant place! The staff were great, the room was lovely, we stayed in one of the outside rooms - tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had arranged to eat at the Hardwick (a birthday treat for me - going to Stephen Terrys restaurant), the hotel arranged a taxi for us, with no fuss.   The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, Paul the Bar Supervisor particularly going the extra yard on more than one occasion. The huge beds are also fantastic and hugely comfortable.   Pretty much everything! The people were friendly and very welcoming. We arrived at 23:30hrs with 2 bicycles and they gave us the key to a secure room where we could keep them. The room was very comfortable and spacious, big shower, very clean and newly refurbished probably (?), plus the full English breakfast was indeed a FULL English breakfast... vad folk säger » . Full marks all round! - Top hotel comfort at a budget price. Small hotel spread over adjacent houses, but this was not a problem. Extreamly clean, very comfortable, everything worked. Best hotel shower I've ever had; fast flow, water hot from start. Full English breakfast excellent. One night with breakfast for £34.99...you can't go wrong!

  For the price what was on offer was excellent, amazing value. The room, whilst basic in design and decor, was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower was superb. The staff were fantastic, very polite and courteous. A great example of this is that we mentioned to the girl on reception (Spanish girl - think called ... vad folk säger » Elena?) on the Saturday morning after the first night of our 2 night stay, that we needed our air con checked to ensure that it was working ok as we h - Staff on reception at check in were the most amazing I've ever come into contact with! I stay in hotels 44 weeks a year all over the country from budget to luxury and I was treated so well here I won't hesitate to return and recommend this hotel. The staff could not do enough for me despite booking .com not informing them I had even booked! The beds are very comfortable and no noise from other guests heard unlike in the ibis budget in cardiff, I'd much rather drive a few miles down the road t
