  We found this a very friendly and welcoming place, where the staff were helpful and obliging. We have been to Wensleydale and the surrounding dales many times and definitely recommend this place. The Bolton Arms is situated in a wonderful spot for walkers, and is quiet and safe for children too. Would thoroughly recommend the inn to other travellers and we shall be back again as soon as we c - we received a warm welcome on arrival and were quickly shown to our rooms. the bar has an excellent selection of real ales,and malt whisky. Bill the landlord has a great knowledge and enthusiasm for his beers. The rooms were clean and comfortable,and the food both at breakfast and in the evenings was superb.   Everything! Warm welcome on arrival. Clear explanation of everything and a tour round of the rooms and facilities. Tea and cake in the comfy cosy lounge with a blazing log burner gave us the opportunity to chat with other new arrivals. Fabulous bedroom (Room 4) with an amazingly comfortable super kingsize bed and sitting area with comfy bucket arm... vad folk säger » chairs. Decor and furnishings of extremely good quality. The food was high quality, plenty of it and lots of variety and the preperation/cooking of it - Quiet village location with stunning views to lift the soul. Overlooking Wensleydale and Bolton Castle to the front with the River Ure threading through the wooded hills to the rear. Room 1 with the 4 poster bed has a picture postcard dual aspect. Windows are double glazed. Good to have thick curtains at the windows. Beautiful white linen. Wide choice of breakfast foods on offer, including a lovely fresh fruit salad.   chris and sue were so friendly, our room was very clean, and full of character, the breakfast was great and plenty of choice, and a very friendy atmosphere, I recommend to anyone, the room had a hugh old fireplace which chris said they use in winter, I wish we had booked later in the year as a fire in the room would have been perfect, we will vis... vad folk säger » it again, theres a farm shop not far away which I would visit, and local towns are full of wonderful shops - Friendly hosts, great breakfast, beautiful farmhouse and countryside, good location for visits to local towns and places of interest. Quiet if you like to have solo time. But would also be good for a family or a couple. Well-equipped room. Reasonable rates. Good to be able to smoke in the garden without feeling awkward about it.
