  We liked everything. The room was small but cosy and the bed was made fresh each morning. We appreciated the small touches: the toileteries, the replenished hospitality basket, the flowers outside. The waitresses were so friendly especially Joanne and the Australian girl. The food was gorgeous. The evening meals were more than I usually pay but excellent value for money and the quality was super - Everything! The location is perfect for walking the hills and fells. The pub caters for everything so no need to go elsewhere. Food is excellent, staff friendly and efficient. Book if you require meal in restaurant, it gets very busy. Rooms comfy and clean, loads of hot water. Great real ales. Very busy with walkers. Three open fires. Fab.

  The food was obviously of a high quality. After a walk round Grasmere the hotel's warm swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were a luxurious delight.   Staff very friendly, location was excellent. Found the room very comfortable and clean. I wish I could have stayed longer. Best breakfast I have ever had - Lovely setting,staff helpful and friendly,food excellent and dog friendly. Lovely relaxing place to stay and only a 10 minute walk from Grasmere.

  This is a very beautiful hotel, set in an idyllic spot with views of Grasmere Lake and the fells. Really one of the loveliest spots in England. The staff were friendly and helpful and the fact that the hotel was completely booked shows how popular it is. One guest told me he'd been coming for 28 years and this is my third time. They serve cocktail... vad folk säger » s and hors d'oeuvres before dinner and the chef is superb-- everything beautifully presented and he/she uses unusual and very pleasing combinations in - We stayed at the Gold Rill for 2 nights in April. We found it to be so lovely, peaceful and relaxing, a proper home from home. It has a beautiful dining room, and with lovely comfy lounges and views. We enjoyed the pitch-and-put no end. The hotel is only a couple of mins walk into the center of Grasmere, just perfect! And with lovely staff, we would definitely go again. Stephen & Jean

  10 minutes walk from bus station, not very far from the village center. It is pretty close to some good routes for walking, hiking and cycling. The staff there are very nice and very kind. The rooms including bedrooms bathrooms, kitchen, etc., are all very clean and comfortable. For me, as a solo traveller, it is a pretty good choice to stay t... vad folk säger » here and enjoy a quiet time in the countryside. - Hosts friendly, excellent value, quiet (although that might be b/c we stayed during the middle of the week in the low season), resident chef prepared us an excellent meal at bargain prices; I enjoyed the resident cats but people should know about them in case of allergies.
