We were offered free upgrade to a villa when they do not have any non-smoking room available. The place is extremely comfortable and cosy. Our 2 nights-stay in the hotel was amazing. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous. The hotel staff was professional and helpful. They could communicate in English. I wish I could stay longer.

1) Breakfast - European buffet was to die for!! they cook ham in front of your eyes, excellent choice of fruit, muesli, sausages, fish.
2) Spacious room.
3) Staff speaks good English and very helpful, allowed us to leave our luggage for free for 3 days even when we left for Tokyo and then didn't come back to Hyatt again.
4) Locality is really convenient for both sightseeing (next to Kyoto Museum and various temples) and logistics point (5 min from train/shinkansen station)
