  It's located near the train station, and bus stop which has easy access to shopping centers and tourist destinations, and the downtown Kyoto. There are some restaurants and convenient stores around the hotel. Rooms are clean, beds and pillows were comfy, and all 3 types of the breakfast were yummy. The public bath was really nice too, good and relaxing, especially after a long walk touring the city. - we had no choice but booked a family room (2 nights) good for 5 people but we were only just 2 adults with our 15 month old since no better hotel was available during our trip. it turned out a great choice because it was very spacious and clean and cozy. my lil toddler love running around. will booked same hotel again if we ever get back to Kyoto next time. worth money spent with good breakfast delivered to our room every morning. :)

  The staff at Gion Maifukan could not have done enough to help us. They were attentive without being intrusive and after the first night moved us to a bigger room to accommodate the four of us.   We had a 1 month trip around Japan :- Tokyo(Asakusa), Tokyo(Yokahama), a cruise, KYOTO, Hiroshima, Osaka & back via Helsinki. Metro station to the city centre & Old - This was one of the best hotels we stayed in Japan. The location was very easy, we just took the subway to reach Kokusaikaikan and the directions on the subway took us directly to the hotel. It was a very comfortable and nice room, with free internet. The buffet downstairs was very good for dinner and the surrounding environment was very nice and green. As my older daughter was in the room one day, they didn' t have oppurtinity to clean the room, so they presented us 500 JPY gift check for it.

  We liked the Japanese traditional accommodations. The staff was very helpful with directions and even called our taxi driver when my son left his watch in the room when we had already checked out.   Very close to the subway. Clean and airy room, size wasn't too bad for japan. 5 min walk to the main shopping strip and maybe a 15-20 min walk to Gion.   The service and comfort in this hotel is exquisite. If you are going as a couple in Japan and are tired of small rooms then try the superior double room at this hotel. The beds are huge!! Its location was a little far from tourist areas, however it is conveniently located near a subway station and the hotel shuttle helps you get to the train station. The staff helps you in giving directions. - Check in/out with storage service at Kyoto train station is a really convenient one. The rooms are surprisingly big and cozy with superb city view. Location is excellent to access the Nanjio temple and other famous spot. Dining and caual walking in this area are superb.

  We were offered free upgrade to a villa when they do not have any non-smoking room available. The place is extremely comfortable and cosy. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous.   The hotel is in a perfect location - right opposite the Kyoto station. The station itself is an excellent place for shopping and eating. In front of the hotel is the bus station, which has the buses that will take you to all the sights in Kyoto. Basically, the location of the hotel cannot be better. The room was nicely equip - Excellent American-style service (ie. help with luggage, staff always ready to assist), plus an incredibly good location, VERY close to station! So it's really easy for travellers to buy a one-day bus sight-seeing ticket to tour around all kyoto sights in convenience. And with JR pass, it's easy to travel to Nara and Osaka via railway.
