  After a very busy month participating in work exchange in Akureyri, I booked a stay at Skjaldarvík the night before I was to fly to Reykjavik. And I am so happy I did. This guest house was like heaven on earth. It's outside of town (the perfect distance if you have a car), set next to the fjord, well decorated, tranquil, and surrounded by chickens... vad folk säger » , friendly dogs, and beautiful Icelandic horses. I spent my last night in Akureyri wandering around the fields and relaxing in the guest house's comfo - We really enjoyed our two night stay at Skjaldarvík Guesthouse. It is situated just off route one, five minute drive from Akureyri. We found the bedroom very comfortable and the shared facilities more than adequate. We decided to dine in the guest house on the first night as the weather had taken a turn for the worse – delighted we did as the food and service were both superb. I’m only disappointed we didn’t dine there on our the 2nd night (I found the local Thai in Akureyri very average). Bre

  It´s a really nice house with a spacious room and comfortable beds and nice garden. We felt like at home. Well equipped kitchen and free coffee and tea was quite a detail! Everything was clean. Wifi did work very well. Enough space to park the car near the houose and a good supermarket next door. Liked the neighbourhood as it was not touristy at a... vad folk säger » ll. A short walk to the center. We arrived a bit later and gave them a call. No problem for them. - The natural geothermal hot tub was cool. We got a room with a private bathroom- that was nice so we didn't have to share with other guests. There is a little grocery store across the street so you can buy food and put it in the shared fridge in the shared kitchen. Facilities were clean, great budget friendly location.   It was clean and good for the money, Icelandic guesthouses are not cheap! Nothing fancy but had what you needed and in a good location just up the hill from the main street. Considering the local teen activity is revving their cars around town, this is an ideal location. Guesthouse is very clean and well maintained ,and is in a building built in the 1930s. The interior made us felt like home. There is a fully equipped kitchen and common TV and dinning area with free tea, coffee and juice. This place is a short drive to the famous creamless ice cream called Brynja.

  A lovely place to stay. The owner is a kind lady who takes really good care of the property and her guests. The beds are really good, as is the breakfast, including some home made products. There is a kitchen and a small living room with view over the farmland and some nice books about Iceland. Everything is clean and well maintained. The room looking over the valley has an awesome view. Very friendly owners, although they barely speak English. :)

  This guesthouse is the best one during our stay in Iceland. The house is built in 1923 and very warm and cozy. Everything inside the house are so perfect and the location is also great for travellers. There is even a piano in our room! The houseowner is very nice and gave us a lot useful information.
