It isa nice place to stay as you travel by car around the Tuscan area and youcan come and go as you like. - Air conditioning, the rural sense of the location, yet it is a 5 minute walk to a major city bus line. Exceptional service from front desk staff--Sara was willing to provide recommendations regarding dinner and wineries to visit (both recommendations were superb). - It was outside the city, necessary if you are driving but very easy to walk or take the bus inside the city walls.

The Spiga d'Oro was a great farmhouse in the heart of Tuscany. It was conveniently located so that we were able to do some wonderful day trips within a reasonable drive: Florence, Arezzo, Siena, Cortona, Montepuliciano. The accommodations were great. Our kitchen was well-equipped and they offered a welcome basket of essential provisions; however there was a very nice little grocers in a small town about 1Km away if needed. A well restored villa with lots of character and nice grounds. Everything was very clean and we had a good view from our window. The directions provided by the hotel were good. We were not able to eat dinner at the hotel but they recommended a good local restaurant Da Antonio.
