It's an hostal, not an hotel. Said that, everithing was really good: WiFi decent, clean room (they clean it every day) and the staff is very helpful. Position is very good: really close to atocha, to the retiro gardens, the Prado, the modern art museum.. And close to city centre as well. In case in the district there are too different bars/pubs..

The location is great. The value is great. Your really cant complain too much when it's about 30 euros a night in this location. Facility is a bit outdated, but it is cheaper and yet still a lot better and more comfortable than most hostels in Europe of that price range. It is clean for the most part and staff is friendly. We got a three people room for 30 a night.

The girls from reception - Maria and Elena -were very hospitable and friendly and both deserve a certain salary increase. Rooms are not much specious but always clean and tidy. I rarely give top marks on the grounds there should always be room for some improvement but I'm struggling to find any fault with the Catalonia Atocha. Within half an hour of booking I received a "welcome" email from the hotel with detailed and useful information on how to find the hotel whatever the mode of transport, I’ve never had this before from an hotel, it boded well and I was not disappointed.
Without exception the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and equally happy to speak

We had two rooms one of which was a very spacious double with a king size bed. The single room was larger than many others I have stayed in. Spacious and very pleasant public seating area. Very pleasant cafe/bar with good economically priced food.Perfect location and even though the rooms faced onto the main road, excellent double glazing ensured a peaceful nights sleep.

The hotel was what I would consider a 5 star. The decor were very modern, very comfortable, immaculate. The shower was spacious and had three different shower heads. A nice touch for the weary traveler.

My daughter and I came to Madrid after walking The Camino Frances de
Santiago de Compostela. We really appreciated our luxury hotel afyer 39
days of albergues. Our beds were extremely comfortable, our rain shower
