  Our stay at The Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge began with an easy check in at which time the owner upgraded us to a one bedroom free of charge. Nice!! The suite was spacious and well laid out with a well appointed kitchen and there was a walk out to a balcony with chairs and a table. Try the bbq shack down by the beach - we had crayfish (lobster) and - Excellent staff... The owners were helpful and informative, and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable. It far exceeded the usual tourist motel accommodation in NZ. There was also a playground opposite in alarge park for the kids to expend energy. Excellent accommodation, don't even consider anywhere else.

  To be honest, after reading the reviews for this hotel I was not expecting very much at all, but I wanted somewhere cheap (and this was the cheapest by heaps for my family of four). I was very pleasantly suprised when we arrived.... The room was spotless, especially the bathroom and also the kitchen. The staff were also very - The staff were great for attending to our needs. they are a 25 minute walk from town, we had a bus to catch at 4pm and we were able to walk into town in the morning and they kindly dropped our luggage off to us later in the afternoon so we didnt have to walk back to get it. They do the free drop off and pick up which was unbelievably helpful. It was a great price for the room we had. We required a later check out and they extended it by an hour which was more than enough and at no extra charge.

Kylie and Luke were friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the area,the B and B is in a good position for the facilities at kaikoura, and the White Morph served a wonderful meal.
