Phil and the rest of the staff went out of their way on several occasions throughout our visit to make it the best it could be. The staff / owners were very friendly, honest and approachable. Made
you feel like people as opposed to passers through. The B&B had a
very homely feel, very clean and comfy. Bedroom no.3 Had a comfy double
bed, was on the back of the property so wasn't in the sun all day,
and the en-suite was nicely sized, stocked with handwash. Breakfast was
also very professional and tasty. Generally a great location (for our
trip to Alton Towers) and place to stay

We stayed here whilst on a 2 day pass to Alton Towers. The guest house was located about 10 mins from the resort and was easy to find. Close to local shops/pubs/restaurants. The owners were lovely and friendly and cooked a really good breakfast. Rooms were spacious and clean. Good value for money. -

Before we even arrived the owners were really helpful and friendly. On arrival shown to our room (only two bedrooms). We had a mini fridge with fresh milk (beats UHT milk any day!). The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was lovely. The couple who own the b&b were so welcoming. Perfect location for alton towers and great value for money. Can't fault this place! Will definitely book here again if we go to alton towers.

I actually paid for this for my son and girlfriend to stay as they were going to alton towers. As it was his 21st birthday Jan upgraded his room. They both thoroughly enjoyed their stay and thought the hosts were excellent. Would stay here again if ever in the area. -

The basics here are done very well - good bed and shower, a good sized room and a welcoming and helpful host (without being overly so). Our host freely admits that her B&B is a "work in progress" so it will probably become even better but.... -

Richard and Linda were extremely welcoming, helpful hosts. My room was spotlessly clean, warm and the bed was seriously comfortable. The location, at the end of a lane means that Woodshoot is totally quiet.
Breakfast is served in the dining room of their home and is just heavenly. They bake their own bread and source the eggs, bacon and sausages

The Owners are very welcoming and Friendly.
Excellent Breakfast.
I've marked the Facilities and Location slightly down as the room, whilst adequate has no room for storage and the location is isolated, you do need a car to get to places unless of course you are on a walking holiday, in which case it is ideal.

Our stay here was really nice. It's clearly a place taken care of and run well. Our stay made me want to give "excellent" ratings for all categories but held back to "good" on just a couple for the sake of a clear review. Location: - Shawgate Farmhouse is rural. Nina and James make a great team and deliver exactly what Shawgate Farm promises - a relaxing night's sleep and an excellent breakfast. With a pub five minutes walk away, or further choice within 10 minutes in the car, you have all you need. Whilst the location is attractive to those visiting Alton Towers, we used Shawgate Farm as a base for cycling with the High Peak and Tissington Trails plus Carsington Water all within reasonable driving distance.

Very warm welcome on arrival, offered to dry out our clothes in the dryer (had been raining on and off all day), very comfortable bed, did not want to get out of it! Glad we did though as the breakfast was delicious! Lovely surroundings and only a short drive from Alton Towers, good value for money, and owners very helpful with directions and info

Our hosts, Ruth and Colin, were very kind and welcoming. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. It is only a 6 minute drive to Alton Towers and in a very pretty village. The Beehive is a wonderful place to be based for exploring the area. The only drawback is that there are no restaurants in the village, just a pub with pretty average food but Ruth and Colin are happy to have you bring a take away to have in the breakfast room.
