The location was ideal for us , we like to shop and enjoy the restaurants and bars in the town centre. The owners George and Lindsey were very friendly and made our stay all the more enjoyable, George was very clued up on the local area and was a very chatty host at breakfast. The breakfast at the Hillsdale was top notch and possibly the best we have ever had in our time going to guest houses(especially the sausage and mushrooms !).Our room was very comfortable with daily towel changes and room.

The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite was of a good standard. Overall it was a very nice place to stay particulary as 16 appears to be the maximum number of guests. The staff and owners could give everyone good service as well as finding time to talk to all . Beautifully clean room, very smart bathroom. Very welcoming and friendly,extremely helpful suggesting local restaurants, very detailed information on how to reach the secure parking lot. Excellent choice of fresh fruit, cereals and superbly cooked full English breakfast. Excellent location very central. All in all a top notch place to stay! Loved the candles outside in the evening and all the little lights in the entrance, looked very welcoming!. Lindsey & George were so welcoming and friendly. They definitely made our time with them very enjoyable. The breakfast was very good and they provided a lot of choice. Hillsdale was very central for everything but not too far away from some lovely walks either. Georges local knowledge was excellent, which helped his guests decide on where to visit during the day, and also where to eat and drink on the evening. We enjoyed everything about our stay here. We were on holiday visiting family as we now live in Germany so this little spot was our choice for a relaxing romantic break before rushing around Manchester!! It was lovely. We met George and Lindsey and they were extremely helpful and friendly. Was lovely and we would book again :) Thank you!. The owners were very hospitable and friendly.The accommodation was very comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. We stayed for five days and the owner suggested walks, provided maps and recommended restaurants for the evenings. We had a lovely time and would go back again without hesitation. Beatiful rooms, very warm welcome and delicious food right in the heart of Ambleside what more could you want Dorothy and Emma really went out of their way to make us welcome and were always willing to answer any questions re: transport, places to visit etc with a smile on their face at all times. Don't know we're to start.... Really impressed with our whole break. Was welcomed from the moment we got there, felt really comfortable with te stay. Room was small but was fine for mysel and my girlfriend. Nice place to be in lots to do, would 110%. Recommend this place :). This B&B is friendly and efficient. We liked everything about Hillside and would definitely return. Our only little "niggle" was there wasn't much space for our clothes. A bigger wardrobe would have helped. However for the time we stayed this wasn't too much of a problem, and also we did book last minute so this may have been the only room left. That we were only there for 2 nights...wish we had booked in longer!. Nothing. No negative views whatsoever. Parking is a short walk away. Had a lovely stay and couldn't fault this b&b. Parking arrangements, way away, awkward, dented car Expensive for standard Rooms on small side Cramped bathroom in one, couldn't use sink properly. Nothing!. Only small negative was that the bathroom in room 8 was tiny but it was spotlessly clean, modern and adequate for a couple if days xx. Nothing. Nothing to dislike. Internet was very hit and miss as we were on the top floor. There isn't a handle on the inside of the toilet door. Just three flights of stairs to go up to our room. I had a bad knee and I shud have asked first but I managed fine. After a super king size bed a simple double takes some getting used to. No negative comments. Our stay there was to short. Could do with a comfortable chair in room. thought it was rather pricy compared to other places up and down the country. Room 8 bathroom is only suitable for small people. Shower needs attention. Faults reported. No parking directly outside.View only onto street. If I had to pick out one minor negative, it would be the size of the room (a bit cosy).
