Amazing! I didn't know what to expect from the hotel or the location. What a great surprise. The Lake District, the Village of Grasmere and the Waterside hotel were great!. Everything was excellent. I was there with my girlfriend and happy to stay there again. Special thanks to manager of the hotel. He was absolutely friendly and cares about us (he recommended to take hotel umbrella because rain could be later and he organized wonderful mini bus tour for us to the lakes). Breakfast also excellent (you could order classic English, continental breakfast and even salmon), wi-fi, TV provided but not so interesting because nature outside is very beautiful.

Located conveniently at the edge of the town, had a great welcome, with delicious homemade biscuits on the tea tray. Generously sized room (Ground Floor Twin) with very comfortable beds, lots of storage space. Electric sockets next to table and mirror. Good sized bathroom. Room clean and presentable. Lovely lounge with large TV.

From the moment we arrived we were made really welcome. Mike (the owner) was helpful in every way, showing us around and offering to carry our bags to our room which was very comfortable. Breakfast was a delight from the vast array of cereals & fruit available to the full English that we ordered on the first morning to the lighter choice on our second.

Friendly welcome and all staff we met were courteous and helpful at all times. The hotel location is fantastic with a short 10 minute walk into Grasmere. The grounds are spectacular with herdwick sheep in the field in front, deer in the woods and visiting badgers. The sound of owls at night and watching the badgers feeding was definately a highlig

Friendly Staff helped enormously with my hectic schedules during my stay, very early starts and late returns also arranging for safe over-night parking of vehicle, they really couldn't have done more to meet my requirements.
The food was excellent, cooked to perfection, hot and presented well. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable, all this and at a very affordable price.

We stayed at the Gold Rill for 2 nights in April. We found it to be so lovely, peaceful and relaxing, a proper home from home. It has a beautiful dining room, and with lovely comfy lounges and views. We enjoyed the pitch-and-put no end. The hotel is only a couple of mins walk into the center of Grasmere, just perfect! And with lovely staff, we would definitely go again.
