July 2013. This pension is located just a couple of minutes from Sol, the centre of Madrid, and was a perfect base for our stay. Rooms were clean with a shower and sink, and ceiling fan. La posizione è centralissima, esattamente fra la Puerta del Sol e la Plaza Mayor. L'hostal è semplice ma pulito, ogni camera ha il suo bagno privato. - Vicinanza al centro e alla metropolitana, camera pulita e spaziosa rispetto ad altri hostal dove ho soggiornato, sempre a Madrid per diverse volte, questo lo consiglierei sicuramente.

Loved the location, Hostal Mayor was close to major attractions such as
Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It was also very near the underground.
Shower had great pressure and the rooms were very clean. In addition to
this the view from the balcony was also great. Over all a nice
comfortable place to stay, we enjoyed it and would recommend to others

It's an hostal, not an hotel. Said that, everithing was really good: WiFi decent, clean room (they clean it every day) and the staff is very helpful. Position is very good: really close to atocha, to the retiro gardens, the Prado, the modern art museum.. And close to city centre as well. In case in the district there are too different bars/pubs..

This is rather a 3 star hotel not just a hostel - the rooms are small but are really cosy and comfortable; the furniture is new and there is enough place to put all your the baggage; it was extremely clean (we had our room cleaned every day); there`s free wi-fi which is fast; the personal speaks English which is quite an advantage in Spain; location - perfect - 2 mins to Gran Via and not more than 20 mins to Puerta del Sol and at the same time it was not noisy at all.
