  July 2013. This pension is located just a couple of minutes from Sol, the centre of Madrid, and was a perfect base for our stay. Rooms were clean with a shower and sink, and ceiling fan.   The location was excellent and the hostal was really easy to find. We arrived before the check-in time and were given access to our rooms which was great. Our room was clean and we had a view which looked out on to Gran Vie. Staff were friendly and helpful.   We loved the cleanliness of the Hostal. We also enjoyed the excellent location and walking distance to historical sites and museums. Our host, Luisa was excellent, helpful and very friendly. She was there to greet us and allowed us to come back for an extra day after our train to Paris was cancelled. It's not a fancy building on an attractive boulevard, but it's within a short walking distance to the train station, which is all - It's an hostal, not an hotel. Said that, everithing was really good: WiFi decent, clean room (they clean it every day) and the staff is very helpful. Position is very good: really close to atocha, to the retiro gardens, the Prado, the modern art museum.. And close to city centre as well. In case in the district there are too different bars/pubs..

  We made a booking for 2 nights and got a good room that was to the inside of building. There were 2 head boards, which showed that the 3rd bed was just makeshift.
