Nikko Park Lodge Mountainside was a really cosy, quiet and convenient
place to stay, not to mention really friendly. It was away from the main
street in a beautiful wooded area and yet still only a 10 minute short
jaunt down to the main station area (or there was a shuttle bus provided

Staff were the key. I left my iPad on the train from Sendai, and they jumped into action, calling the local station, getting me the contact details in Tokyo Station.
Loved the feel of the place, rather backpacker, but comfortable. Food was good, but not exotic. Room was a bit tight, but it was a budget option.
Loved the owners, both John and the lady who runs the in town hotel (Nikko Park?),where we dropped our bags, having arrived early.

Cheap and flexible traditional ryokan. The killer feature is the private
onsen which guests can use at leisure.
The onsite vending machine with alcoholic beverages is a nice touch.
It is also placed close to a nice sight seeing trail. -

Very convenient to the shrines and temples at the world heritage site--
about 10-15 minute walk.
Bath was shared onsen style, but you could turn the sign to OCCUPIED and lock the door.

The best thing about this B&B is the relaxing bath with glass windows overlooking the river -this is not a real onsen, i.e., the water is not from a hot spring, but it is good. Location is really good for the main sites and bus stops.
I got a very useful custom made area map when checking in, with good explanation on what is where, tips for sightseeing and general. Very good.
There is in-house hot spring bath, 2 private bathrooms.
The breakfast is not too rich (basically toast, fruits and a boiled egg), but it was big enough to fill, and the lady who prepared it was really nice too. I still recommend it.
Take the bus to see Kegan Fall, it is beautiful.

The guesthouse is well located, clean inside and quite, the owner friendly and helpful and the hot spring bath was great, looking out on the forest with the sound of a rushing stream nearby.

Its was my first time to stay in Japanese home-stay guest room, and I have wonderful experience with Rindou. Sizuo San is a friendly owner, he has well prepared the room with the heather as well as the hot tea when I have arrived. He picked me when I arrived at the station. Beside the room, I love the dinner and breakfast prepared by him. Would strongly recommended if you wish to experience the typical japanese food, and of course the foods are so delicious. Nikko Park Lodge is so close to the station that I missed it! Come out of Tobu Nikko station, and you can see it just over the road from the petrol station. Excellent location, just across the road from the buses to the World Heritage site, Chuzenji-onsen, and Yumoto-onsen. -

The hotel is very close to Tobu Nikko Station, if you take Tobu line the hotel is just 5 mins walk from station. Food and convenient stores are available near hotel. Breakfast is very nice. (It's free, included in room rate) Room is clean. I booked for twin room but got 3 beds which I could relax to leave my child in an extra bed.

Hotel is situated near the JR station (5 minutes walk). Opposite to the bus station for exploring the surroundings. Hotel staff is friendly. Breakfast is simple but good. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Definitely a good base for exploring Nikko.

+ It rained on my last day, and Yuji generously gave me an umbrella to keep, 500 yen to store my luggage at the station so I could walk around more, and a ride back to the station :)
+ Yuji gave rides to the onsen nearby, which had both outdoor and indoor baths, and great ice cream
