  We had the room with a balcony over looking the canal. Nice to watch the boats, gondolas coming and going. We got a water taxi in front of train station and it took us right to hotel door. It was close to main places of interest. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Nice ambience. Also, the guesthouse is located next to a vibey piazza where all the artsy locals hang out, so - This hotel was fairly close to everything. Hotel was close to a square with many restaurants and bars. Room was clean and air conditioned. Room was not fancy but was fine and the hotel was a good value. Staff did not speak English but were still nice.

  Great B&B. Very clean and quiet. It's a 10 minutes walking from the train station, with the suitcases. There are 2 bridges in between, the big one right out the train station and a little one after so you may suffer a little with your luggage, but thats normal in Venice. Go straight on the street in front of the stairs and take the 2nd left (its the l - It is near the St Lucia train station and the attractions on the islands. It is about 15 minutes walk to Rialto market. We stayed 3 nights and went round almost the whole Venice by foot.

If you want a true Venetian family owned hotel, go here. - It's hard to find decent prices in Venice for an ensuite room within walking distance from the train station. That said, Alloggi Sardegna was a very good option. Lady in reception couldn't speak english but we were able to understand her italian. She was very kind all times. Room and bathroom had good space. Breakfast was basic but with an excellent italian coffee -- served in our room every morning.
