  I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Am Rothenbaum. The hotel is in an attractive neighborhood and right opposite the Hallerstrasse subway station, which is one stop from the Dammtor regional train station (much nicer than the Hauptbahnhof main station in Hamburg). All is smartly done. The breakfast, for an extra fee of 10 Eu - 100% friendly and helpful staff. The location is the best - close to the metro station, a supermarket, multiple cafes and restaurants around. Wi Fi working fast and really everywhere at the hotel. A complimentary glass of wine upon arrival was a nice surprise.

  Our room was spacious, quiet, and comfortable. It had a large window with garden outlook but shaded from sun. There were two comfortable (but not easy) chairs. The bathroom had a spacious shower and was well lighted. The staff were more than helpful with good advice about a cozy restaurant and a pleasant weinstube in the vicinity.
