  The hotel was in an excellent and beautiful location, literally at the bottom of the hill at the entrance to the castle. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and they all spoke great English. My boyfriend and I (we are both 24yrs old) visited the hotel spa during our stay for a back massage which was lovely - I highly recommend.   La Bastide Saint Martin overlooks a gorgeous piece of countryside, is set in a lovely big, sparse garden, has a great pool and it's rooms are quiet and simply, though beautifully decorated (we wanted to take the shutters home!). We knew the hotel was located outside of town but had planned to hire bikes to get around. Having don - My boyfriend & I both loved staying here, we stayed in room 3 & we were able to walk straight onto garden & to pool. We spent 1 night in the medieval city then 3 nights at La Bastide Saint Martin, it is more in the countryside & the outdoor pool is lovely for sunbathing, relaxing & switching off!   The staff at aragon were really friendly so even though we were unlucky with the weather they lent us umbrellas. The location is excellent a 2 minute walk to the medieval castle entrance. The hotel was very well kept with a lovely clean pool area and hotel rooms were spotless and cleaned daily. I cannot fault aragon. - The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. The bedroom on the first floor looked out on the Old City & the view was stupendous day or night. The swimming pool was faultless and a sun-trap for those who want it with some shaded areas. The hotel was very close to the Old City and a five minute walk away. The city of Carcassonne was a twenty minute walk into town and the car was not required after arrival.
