This was one of the highlights of our Trip around Norway. Relaxed hospitality as it should be. Excellent local produce, no choice and yet the meal was enjoyed by all 12 dinner guests. Flam is a very beautiful place at the bottom of a fjord, and shouldn't be missed. The hotel is 2 minutes from the train overlooking the fjord. This hotel is located in a beautiful spot, a very short walk to the Flam train station and the Gutvagen ferry dock, and next door to Flam's excellent microbrewery/restaurant. Our room was large, bright, had a really nice view from room and balcony, a very comfortable bed, and good reading lights. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The view of this hotel is very good, a great lake view. We rent an apartment, it's spacious. The small balcony is good for chat and drinks to view such a great lake.

The view from our deck was amazing, probably better than the view from the hotels that are nearer to the reail station and port. The room was pretty big, and had all the facilities needed to cook and eat. For those who do not cook, there is a bar/restaurant on the basement that offers basic meals at fair prices.

The position, just on the small port of Kalvag with a beautiful view on the sea. The rooms were both spacious, bright and clean. Breakfast, served in the restaraunt (wich is quite elegant inside), was good and abundant. We had even diner at the restaurant: not cheap but the food was good; tasty even the beer locally brewed. We had an excellent large room with two panoramic windows and fjord view. The location is very convenient- just few meters from the ferry terminal (but still silent!) and very close to Balestrand. The location is excellent, just around the corner from Balestrand and 500m from the ferry. It is also a good base for lots of walks. We had the 3 course dinner at the hotels restaurant which was yummy but the best was the wonderful view while eating dinner. We could see dolphins in the fjord! Staff were friendly and helpful and the place was very clean.

This place was amazing. While simple in set up it had all we needed! The cabin was on the end and overlooked the water. We could watch the ferry boats come to shore from our window. It was so relaxing. The staff was fabulous, they lent us a hair dryer, and for a small fee we rented our sheets and towels. We also could not locate a laundry mat any

I booked the Vangsgaarden Gjestgiveri as an overnight break in our
Norway in a Nutshell tour not really knowing what to expect. It turned
out to be a charming little hotel with beautifully appointed common
areas and an accommodating staff. Their complimentary breakfast was
terrific, as was its location, a historic little house a few yards from

The town of Flam is in a beautiful setting at the end of the Fjord- we went hiking and it was breathtaking- so beautiful- I would recommend renting bikes and riding back to Aurland- along the Fjord, a beautiful setting- the bkie ride from Flam to Mrydal is only for people who have experience- it is a winding path, steep mountians and lots of uphill- only do this if you are in shape and know how to ride a mountain bike- you could also walk this trail or part of it
