It was exactly as described - the hotel is very well situated being very close to the main area of York, the room was fine, service good and overall the stay was exactly what I wanted and why I booked this hotel.A great location in the city centre. The flexibility to park at the hotel on the day of our stay prior to being able to register. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Minster to others. Minimum fuss, good breakfast, rooms were fine, maybe need updating but nothing that would offend. Great location for town...but is quiet at night. Good parking to. close to the centre of town and the staff on reception were very helpful. very convenient and well priced for the centre of York. Good food. Good service. Friendly staff. Convenient for York city centre attractions, good food, good car parking. The hotel was two minutes wlak from the Minster and had its own car park. The weather was very cold but my room was nice and warm.Friendliness and co-operation of staff, cleanliness. staff courtesy . size of room. Proximity to town centre. Close to town centre. I liked the room. comfy bed. The comfortable beds and the closeness to town with free parking. its location ! close to town and york minster .Parking provided, location in city centre. very convenient location. Location. Staff were all cheerful and very willing although not always very skilled, the location was excellent and the opportunity to park a car near a city centre at no additional cost was very helpful. Ideal location for city centre. Secure parking. Staff helpful and efficient. It was in a good location for the minster, shambles etc.,. The fact that it was central to my requirements. Powerful Shower, large spacious room.Large comfortable room. close to city centre. convenient location. excellent breakfast. It was not made clear to us that cooked breakfast was extra! But that's a pretty minor detail. bathroom could use some improvement, but they did the job...Tv's with built-in freeview had a awful signal, sometimes worked ok, mostly didn't!. It was a bit pricey, but so were all the others nearby!!. Reception closed at eleven o'clock when I needed information/assistance after cutting my finger in the room.the room did not have a working shower, just a bath. It would have been nice if the hotel had provided a little tube of complimentary toothpaste.I left mine in the car and would have appreciated it if one had been available.Bed was on the hard side. I could be petty like many before me and say the tv needed changing but overall was just as described. The bathroom was tired. Some of the staff seemed a little less happy and friendly in there work than their colleagues. rooms need updating. The decor is slightly old fashioned. The bed was hard. Breakfast was shambolic, I think I saw Basil fawlty at one point, although I can not say for certain as you did not see the staff very often at breakfast!!!
The hotel did not charge us for breakfast as a result.
The rate only includes a bun and jam. A full breakfast costs extra. The lift was out of order.Breakfast staff lacked attentivness. Being charged for the second night when we had to leavebecause of my wife's medicak condition. The room was small and we were stuck in the furthest part at the hotel. having to pay for an english breakfast. Breakfast service was a bit hap hazard. the rooms smelt a little musty. Hotel decor looking a little tired,Bar/Restaurant,smelled of hot cooking oil, full english breakfast should be included in price, other reveiwers are too harsh in their criticisms. badly in need of refurbishment. very grubby in the corners. ran out of marmalade. No soap in the bathroom. There were no towels until I asked for them and when I did they were given in a heap and not folded. There wasn't a Do Not Disturb Sign so we were interrupted 4 times within 1 hour on the day we were actually leaving. The Chambermaids were also knelt outside our door chatting and folding towels this showed lack of privacy. From the photos the hotel looked smart and elegant. Superficially it is, but it needs a thorough overhaul and deep clean - paintwork was tatty, mirrors were smeared and there was clearly the grime of ages in corners both in public spaces and in the rooms - it could so easily have been a lot better but the housekeeping let it down badly.Bed linen discoloured and holed. Bedroom decor a little tired . Advertised as breakfast included however English breakfast extra. Restaurant closed one night we decided to try dinner, due to flooding. The hotel staff were ok, the included breakfast was terrible. Staff took orders for toast, tea and coffee, when the toast finally arrived it was cold and we had to wait another 10 minutes before they brought us any butter which we had to ask for. The selection of cooked meats was one piece of ham and 12 pieces of salami!. The staff were unhelpful and the service poor at breakfast. The bathroom facilities require upgrading... Bathroom was in need of upgrading, tiles fallen off and grout perishing.Hair dryer did not work. Rather noisey being next to the road. A cooked breakfast should have been included in the room rate. room dated, bathroom looked grubby, wallpaper peeling off walls. The rooms were a little tired and need updating.
