very good value for money; hotel staff very friendly and helpful; hotel very clean and well decorated; rooms quiet and very comfortable; excellent choice of cereals, fresh fruit, and cooked menu for breakfasts; the lounge/bar area was nice place to meet up with my friends before we went out each evening; and basically everything about the hotel was excellent and I would 100% recommend it. Excellent hotel, very comfortable and friendly atmosphere - a real home from home. The rooms are generously proportioned and the staff couldn't have done enough for us. The breakfasts are excellent. We felt welcome from the moment we got there , the room size was excellent, breakfast first class. The log fire was a welcome site in the bar after the walk from the City centre late at night. The whole venue was exceptionally clean. A home from home, thanks to the owners. The hotel was exceptionally clean and comfortable, the staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast fantastic. Location of hotel couldn't have been better. Great discovery and we will be back!. The hotel was ideally situated with an extremely friendly , efficient and helpful staff. Warm , clean and well maintained with a welcoming attitude throughout our stay. strongly reccommended. Clean, friendly staff, 15 mins to York city centre or bus across from hotel. I found this to be an excellent to spend a weekend in York, the hotel is a 20 minute walk from the centre of York or 5 minutes on a bus. Traffice is not too noisy consider the hotel is situated along a busy road. Nice English classical room setting.Helpful staff, good breakfast, good parking, handy for going in to York on bus (with free senior bus passes). Breakfast times maybe too early!. only complaint as such was that the bedroom was too warm but we just turned down the heating and opened the window.Accepting American Express credit cards. Shower room a bit cramped - could have done with more shelf space -toilet bags had to be balanced on toilet cistern and floor etc. Pictureon some tv channels very distorted and teletext didn't work. Bed a taduncomfortable / hard. Breakfast finished at 09.00 - just a bit earlyat weekends?. There are only 2 things that could have been better. The shower is not as good as an £85 a night room should have been as there was not enough water pressure for a good shower. The room was neat and tidy but was a bit dusty. Breakfast is nice, but not enough. Hotel stay is quite expansive.The tight entrance to the car park meant you had to turn around up the road before pulling in. Check in times, check out times and breakfast all set to suit owners and not guests (can only check in before 2pm and after 6pm) most people would arrive about 3-00 or 4-00 pm.
