We loved Hofstadir. Our hosts Toti and Gudny were so warm and welcoming.
They were in the middle of a potato harvest when we arrived in the snow!
Toti greeted us as a farmer and came back 45 minutes later as an
outstanding chef! He provided on of our most memorable meals in Iceland--

jams and jellies. Everything was delightful. We will be back. -
This was one of the best if not the best location we have stayed during our holidays in Iceland. Very beautiful landscape, nicely equipped rooms, very helpful staff and superb restaurant. Besides some activities in the area it is also a perfect spot to just relax.
Small remark: If you happen to go to a whale watching tour in Dalvik from here calculate with a drive of 2h, it's 120km. We didn't and it was quite a rush in the end.

We stayed 3 nights. It was just great! Small two room cottage, new, very clean, comfortable inviting beds, sparkling clean sheets and good thick towels.
There is a private great hot tub outside easy to use, a bbq, and some garden furniture.
It was just great to watch the birds through the big windows, the two small waterfalls, smell nature at its best! I warmly recommend!!

booked a stay at Skjaldarvík the night before I was to fly to Reykjavik.
And I am so happy I did.
This guest house was like heaven on earth. It's outside of town (the perfect distance if you have a car), set next to the fjord, well decorated, tranquil, and surrounded by chickens

We really enjoyed our two night stay at Skjaldarvík Guesthouse. It is situated just off route one, five minute drive from Akureyri. We found the bedroom very comfortable and the shared facilities more than adequate. We decided to dine in the guest house on the first night as the weather had taken a turn for the worse – delighted we did as the food and service were both superb. I’m only disappointed we didn’t dine there on our the 2nd night (I found the local Thai in Akureyri very average). Bre

We stayed in an apartment on Munkathverárstræti 33 which was set back from the water on a quiet street which was perfect for our one night stop off.
