My wife and I stayed here 10/11-10/12. We wished we could stay longer. Arriving at the airport, Daniel picked us up with a friendly welcome. 15 minute car ride from the airport to the hotel. During the ride we were given background info of Quito+Ecuador. Once there, we were greeted by Ferris the french bulldog. He showed us to our room. After, Daniel gave us a tour of the compound. The tour took us through a tunnel in the mountain and exited to an amazing view. Here you walk along an aquaduct i.
kaikki arvostelut » We literally tripped over Hacienda La Jimenita. Our plane arrived in Quito late, and we were searching the 'net looking for a place for a single night. We made our reservation about 10:30 P.M., and didn't get there for another hour. For whatever reason, they had not received our booking until after we arrived, but Daniel and his wife, and their son, Diego, welcomed us with open arms, even though it was so late. They put us up in the most beautiful room, with its own porch/deck where we could lo. We arrived in Quito at 8pm and had a flight to Cuenca the next morning at 9am. The Hacienda is no more than fifteen minutes from the airport and is on a beautiful property with views of Quito, Cotopaxi and the Illinizas on a clear day. The staff was very helpful, including complimentary rides to and from the airport and a late dinner for when we arrived. The room itself was gorgeous with a large comfy bed and a balcony with a southwestern exposure. In the morning we got a quick tour of the pro. Had we known what was on offer we would have booked more than one night. Waiting to collect us from the airport, a short ride and then wash and brush up in the de luxe suit before enjoying a wonderful meal, beef for one and fish for the other with wine and water. At breakfast a beautifully presented plate of fruit, then eggs how you like them, bread and jam and very good coffee. We enjoyed a 3 hour tour of the estate with Daniel and then a nice lunch before going back to the airport. Daniel and. We initially chose this hotel for it's convenient location to Qutio's new airport as we were arriving after midnight. Diego picked us up and checked us in, making sure everything was ok despite the late hour. The room was outstanding, king size bed, lovely decor and very clean. Our flight the next day wasn't until late in the afternoon so David took us on a tour of their property, through the tunnel, describing the flora and history of the region. We only stayed 1 night but would have loved to . This was the perfect way to end our vacation in Ecuador. It felt like coming home because of its warm, hospitality and the surroundings which were designed to make you throw cares aside and relax and enjoy life. We loved the architecture (designed by the owners) and the gardens, the good food and the wine and conversation in front of the roaring fireplace. We loved it all, except having to leave. It's too bad that we used La Jimenita as an airport hotel, because it really deserves a longer stay. We love to stay in family run places, and this is the epitome. The grounds are not only beautiful, but are an archaeological site. Ask for a tour of the Inca tunnels! The owners are famous architects in Ecuador, so the buildings and grounds are put together beautifully and comfortably. Loved everything about this place. The proximity to the airport. the lovely owners and managers who couldn't do enough for us. They didn't forget it was our anniversary and wished us well with wine and dinner. Even the dog was great! We had an onsite tour of the farm and its archaeological sites. The rooms are amazing. Staff - The family-run hotel is dedicated to making things work out for you. Early breakfast (5:00am) - no problem. Late run to the airport for red-eye flight - no problem. Free airport pickup/delivery. Beautiful grounds, great guided tour of the grounds, including the old tunnel. Hummingbirds. A lovely place to stay, well designed, luxurious and fantastic hosts. Wood fires, great food, perfect. Our stay was too short. We wished we had another night. The hacienda is on the glide path for planes landing at the new airport, but it is such a wonderful place that that very minor issue is easily blocked out of your mind. The Hacienda is in the countryside, so dog barking and roosters may bother light sleepers. we liked it all. The highlands of Ecuador are chilly, and the rooms could have used some heat. There is nothing here to complain about. I will however offer a little advice. In the morning when you are wanting a shower, just turn the hot tap on first as it takes a little while to go hot. limited menu - no problem for a few meals, but might need to go somewhere else if you stay many days.
