Very comfy facilities. A fire going in the lounge with a big couch. There was a dining room with a jazz band playing. There is a cocktail lounge that was relaxing. The rooms were delightfully furnished, pretty wallpaper, a large closet and the bathroom was tiled. Its a very close walk to shops and other restaurants. Our entire experience was top notch and we will definitely stay here again.
all reviews » We arrived late so the room that we had reserved with two double beds was already gone but they had upgraded us to a room with two queen beds and a small kitchenette with a view of the mountains so that was great. Very friendly staff.The decor was nice and the room and hotel itself was clean. The inn keeper, Jill, was so friendly and accommodated all of our needs. She even kept an eye on our youngest son while we watched another son run the Lake Placid marathon. Our stay was truly enjoyable. The place has real character and is a great oasis. It has a lovely foyer with comfortable chairs and a fire place. Lots of place for bikes and stuff. Hotel staff were very helpful. Hotel was very quiet. The staff was wonderful! Hotel was very clean and charming, a beautiful building. Walking distance to everything you want to see in Lake Placid, restaurants, bars, shopping, views from every angle!. I liked that the hotel was an older design that has been remodeled. Staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the area and events. We had a wonderful time and plan on staying here again. The location, which allowed you to walk to shopping,restaurants,bars and the hockey facility for events. Park your car, check in and the next time you use your car is when you leave to go home. Friendly staff at a restored turn of the century hotel -updated, modern, but still nostalgic of hotels of the past. Located in walking distance of downtown Lake Placid is a definite big plus. The Inn is beautiful,the room was nicely decorated with a 4 pister bed,nice tiled bathroom and an excellent,comfortable bed. Very quaint and interesting. This is our second time at the pines! It's an old hotel with nice features- the common area is a nice place to gather. The downstairs with the hot tub, pool table and foosball table is a nice touch. It was clean and very well priced. Hotel was adequate and clean. If you have problems with stairs you may want to stay somewhere else as the stairs could be challenging, no elevator. Although it boasted a hot tub and spa neither worked particularly well and it seemed like they were an afterthought...they are in the basement. Biggest concern we had was the locks on the doors are not secure. you can open them witha credit card. they need to put real locks on the doors ( deadbolts) and have an interior locking mechanism as well. No elevator, had to walk up 2 or 3 flights of stairs any time you needed something from your car or room. The walls were very thin. If you are a light sleeper this isn't the place for you. At least my neighbor was happy....I woke up to him singing in the morning :). We liked everything.!!!!!!!!!!!. No dislikes. No breakfast offered. Even a continental would be better than just coffee. For the type of hotel I didn't really dislike anything. no dislikes. The weather but hey, what can they do about that. Everything was very good. We wished the room had a mini fridge and maybe a little more variety at the restaurant as far as food goes. We did not like the fact the 4 story Hotel did not have a elevator. To many stairs.Also. Wi/Fi was advertised. But you could not use it in your room. That was a disappointment. In house restaurant was not functioning yet in mid-May, no elevator (?) to upper floors. Apparently no elevator in this 6-7 story building. Peeling wallpaper. No elevator. the restaurant was not open and no air conditioning. Bed was too small. Didn't sleep well. Everything was good except it may be a good idea not to put the guests close to another when the hotel is not full. No breakfast during off-season period (but there is a plenty of places in 5 mins. walking distance). No coffee maker / kettle in room. Bed not made although room was serviced - maybe the maid forgot??. No elevator. it was a little "rough around the edges"... Limited wifi to lobby area and veranda, restaurant only open Fridays and Saturdays. Nothing!. Beds were not comfortable. No elevator!. I think it's over-priced. Two months ago it was $30 cheaper a night. It's a cute hotel but not worth $110 a night. The Crown Plaza is in this price range and it is not in the same class. Also, my husband is on crutches and this hotel did not have 1 thing for disabled lodgers- not even a handicapped parking spot! There are lots of stairs too. If you are handicapped, don't stay here. The accommodations and room. The hotel is very tired and old fashioned, reflected in the price I guess. Would like a small coffee pot in the room. I think a continental breakfast has become the industry standard and you should offer one. It does not have to be fancy. It is tired and really needs some money spent to improve the overall atmosphere. Very old hotel. No elevator and narrow stairs that were hard to climb with a suitcase. Extremely small bathroom. A heavy person would never be able to fit between the wash basin and toilet.
