This hotel has a beautiful style with a very very friendly staff. The hotel is over 80 years old. The location on Main Street and it's views are priceless. If you are looking for a room with value, a great location on Mirror Lake, to the stores restaurants and all other venues, and with a great staff to help you with your stay/requests, this is the place. I will stay here again on my next trip.
all reviews » We loved the location, the room was nice for the price and the view was nice (granted we were on the 6th floor in a King suite). The kitchenette was an added bonus as we like to cook our own foods often to save money on eating at restaurants 3 times a day. The bed was very comfortable having a memory foam feel to it. The water pressure was consistent as was the heat. The location was great for visiting the Olympic sites and for shopping on the main street. The reservation made was for 2 separate rooms, but only one made it to the hotel and the staff was great while working around that issue. There was a nightclub on site, and the breakfast was great in the dining room. The memory foam mattress was fantastic. We had plenty of room-with a livingroom,balconies,another adjoining room. It was in walking distance to a great many things. Excellent music and it was nice to sit outside for dinner, watch the people go by and listen to the music. Friendly capable staff, updated older hotel from our youth. We have deep roots in Lake Placid and it was nice to be centrally located and visit former houses, cemetery, shops. Very easy access to shops, great wine bar, nearby vintage (erk, from our childhood) theater. Bed Comfortable , spacious , we had a king sweet with a 1/2 kitchen, not bad for $59.00, new Mattress (tempur pedic ) whole hotel needs renovating, they said that the face lift will start in the spring, I would stay there again ! beautiful view of the Lake .... Excellent location in Lake Placid. On the main street convenient to restaurants, shops lake. We had a King Suite with a lake view on the 6th floor. Elevator access. Room was spacious, clean. Staff and descriptions on the web were spot on. The location and the view were spectacular! The rooms were well-arranged and interesting, and the bed was absolutely the BEST (I want my own). The staff was friendly and willing to help. When they found out we were there overnight for our anniversary we were up-graded to a 2 room suite with kitchenette. Our suite was clean and had fantastic view of The lake and mountains. Price made up for maintenance and housekeeping mistakes. $60 for room on Main Street in Lake Placid- a steal.Tempurpedic bed and clean bathroom was all I needed. The view of the lake from my 5th floor room was ok. Parking is behind the building with angle parking near the door designated for motorcycles only. Perfect location, friendly staff, spartan, but clean. Just the basics, we're there for the outdoor activities - not the hotel. This hotel was very conveniently located! The staff was very competent and friendly! Everything was so convenient andlovely!!. The location was great. We could go out and enjoy our surroundings and not have to worry about driving. I would recommend the Northwoods Inn to anyone looking for simple and inexpensive lodgings. Price was more reasonable than most in the area. Nice to have a restaurant and bar on first floor. Main lobbies should have been renovated a long time ago. The carpeting needs to be replaced. The lighting is dim. Management does understand the need to upgrade the hotels appearance and room ammenities and is in the process of upgrading. Unseasoned travelers may or may not understand this. Management, also needs to employ a supervisory staff member to insure all rooms are ready for their guests and upgrade room entry to keyless swipe keys/cards. The utensils were a bit dirty and the skillet was extremely old and used (teflon was scraped up pretty bad). Getting ice was a pain since there was no place to get it yourself and 2 of the 3 times I went to the front desk to find an attendant to get the ice there was no one around and I had to come back a few times. However, when I did find someone they were really courteous and helpful. The parking needs serious changes. Never have I been a guest at a hotel and had to park 2 and 3 blocks away in a municipal parking lot which we had to pay for. Then walk down in the middle of the night to change our parking place to another municipal spot which our car could stay in overnight. There was absolutely no room in the hotel parking lot. People were parked in non-parking spaces. People who weren't even staying at the hotel. That's not right to paying guests. Not a thing. Like I said, needs a Face Lift ! and flat screen tv ,. Can't say since the pictures and descriptions told the story. We should have stayed longetr!. The water pressure in the shower was not strong and the shower curtain kept blowing in and touching me. And the rug could have been more well vaccuumed (corners, under dresser, few things on carpet itself). Very worn product, and housekeeping needing attention to details. Scary door frame and lock broken, appeared must have been broken into and repaired numerous times. Dirty refrigerator and cobweb city. Old tv in bedroom, should be a tv in sitting area too. No pressure in shower HD TV would be nice addition Poor wi-fi signal. This hotel is in serious need of renovation and according to a desk clerk will be closed next winter for that to be performed. The bathroom floor tile was cracked. The elevator looked to be 50 years old and had a very narrow door. The second elevator had been out of service for some time. The hotel is a little run down although it looks like they are doing some needed repairs. Parking couldhavebeen moreavailable but still was not abig deal! Outstanding experience!!. When we got up in the morning there was hardly any hot water and the parking is terrible. elevators are old style -circa 1930's- Rooms could use updating. Night club at street level noisy until early hours. Where do I begin? It took us over an hour and 4 rooms later to even get settled. Then we still had to move to the correct room the next morning. It is not very clean. We found someone else's clothes in one room. The tv wasn't working in another. The linen was stained. I personally would pay more elsewhere and will not stay here again in the fall. The hotel is old, however, it was clean and comfortable. I have no complaints. The building was very old- one of the oldest in the city. Nothing. all okay. Room and hotel needs updating. bar prices too high. limited parking. sofa and rug. Room was kind of run down. Old TV set. nothing. you can hear other people in rooms around you and above you. weather. Building is old and tired. Needs an upgrade badly. While it was clean, still gave one a bit of a nervous feeling. The parking situation is horrible. Our coffee maker didn't work and had water from who knows how long just sitting in it. It is out dated there is no refrigerator, hair dryer, and the menu and list of things to do was from the summer and we were there in October. Elevator!!!! entrances and corridor would need refreshing. Only one ice machine. Last but not least, a pepsi hotel. It says it all. Supposedly, the inn is about to be renovated. It needs it. Hallways were dark and dingy, and our room had what may be the oldest carpet I have ever seen. Walls thin. Too noisy both from other rooms and from outside on main street. No parking when we came back to hotel on Saturday. Tv in bedroom and old ratty sofa and very small tv in that room. Elevator was scary. Felt like it could break at any moment. The entire hotel looks run-down and in dire need of remodeling/renovating! Carpets are dingy and bedspreads/curtains could use updating!. this resort is very outdated the balcony door was very cold and a draft came in the mirror above the bed was very dusty and had writing on it. Out dated, but value for money. The sofa sleeper should have been thrown out years ago. It was stained and ripped. The room had a foul odor. The box spring was stained. The toilet backed up and overflowed. The cleaning staff left our door ajar after cleaning it. loud neighbors until 3am both nights!. The room was small, the bath room was even smaller. The motel is actually like a camping cabin but the price is like a regular motel. A little dated. Room was dated, amenities in room dated and dark. Elevators were slow and scary. The overall look inside the hotel could be improved. Carpet is beyond needing replacement! Wasn't sure if tub/shower got cleaned due to the piece of used up soap I found in tub!.
