I read a lot of mixed comments about this hotel before booking.. However I went ahead with the booking because of its overall good rating & reasonable price.. I must say that it was worth the shot! :) What did i expect: I was looking for a decent hotel where i can have a good night stay after a long day out.. and also at walkable distance to the Metro station. all reviews » We spent 15 days in this hotel. Breakfast cost 36 Dhm per person and was pretty good. Fresh orange juice and basic range of food were adequate it's price. Our two and half years old daughter was eating for free. Small shops are very close and all needed goods can be bought there. Fridge was noisy ( we stay in one-bedroom suite, so it didn't disturb us during night, because kitchen was separate). No taxi driver knows the hotel, but all of them know Holiday Inn, which is very close. Taxis are . I chose this hotel and I can tell you that I found myself really well. It is located in a great location from which you can reach all the most beautiful places of the city. At 50 meters you will find the metro, very cheap and fast at night rather taxi with low prices than other resorts. The rooms are large and comfortable with a kitchen and bathroom. The hotel staff was very friendly and courteous, both in reception that the cleaners. I recommend this hotel to anyone who does not look for luxur. The 1-bedroom apartment was big enough for our family of 4. A second bathroom (only sink & toilet) was convenient. The kitchen was equipped for cooking. Our kids (ages 6 & 8) loved the pool, although the water temperature was cool. Pool towels are now provided (and good ones at that). The apartment is in a very good location: you can walk to the Mall of the Emirates, metro stop, groceries and restaurants. Parking garage with elevator service. Yes, as others have commented, the pa. A Dubai hotel under 100 usd? We were in doubt, but tried it because of limited budget. We were not disappointed. Akas is 300m from the Metro (Sharaf dc), walking distance to the Mall and has many cheap food shops nearby. We recommend warmly the very spacious "big studio" which is fully equipped for preparing simple meals. Everything is clean, new and in good condition. Rooftop pool, great! It is a 5 min walk to the metro and the Mall of the Emirates but you can also get a taxi pretty much anywhere for less than 30 Dirham. A few issues with the studio apartment were, - The air conditioner blow in the bedroom was "little" noisy..but the cooling performance was good. - A/c also was making a loud noise in the bathroom. Hope the management will fix it in the future.. - I wish they have at least one floor mat at the bathroom entrance. This would avoid any floor slippages.. Wifi connection wasn't stable and very slow. The hot tub was lukewarm, but it was outdoors in February. The satellite channels were geared towards Middle Eastern clients, not much in the way of international channels and English programming. No coffee maker, but a kettle for Nescafe. I had to ask for extra coffee because it was not refilled each day. No soap or hand/dish towels for the kitchen. Although the pool was a welcome addition to the hotel amenities, it was closed in the afternoon from 3-6pm (open again until 9pm) when it would have been most useful to us - especially in our February visit. #Floor cleanliness could have been better. #WiFi varied in strength but was quite Ok to communicate with home. Nothing, everything was wonderful! Nothing really to complain about. Staff must learn to recognize a woman (not only greeting "sir"). Bring adapters to charge electronic equipment!. Sound insulation not available and housekeeping needs improvement. None. nothing really but they could do with getting some new bath towels as some had holes in. Really No thing. nothing. The swimmingpool needs some new and extra sunbeds. Nothing... Nothing I was very satisfied with my stay there. We were given three passwords for three devices. The signal can be improved. We got to the hotel at 3 pm and our room was not ready for another 45 mins. After checkout, I asked the Mngr on duty to call us a cab, he called some friend of his who circled around the block for 20 mins before taking us to the airport. Making our bill 95 dirhams, when it was 75 to get to the hotel from the airport. Just catch a cab yourself. Don't ask the hotel staff. One of the cleaning/room boy wasn't giving good services as all. Any day who he was working the cleaning of the room was so poor and he didn't even change the towels. Always had to ask for extra towels as they daily forgot to leave us 2 towels each (twin room). Gym is small (micro). Credit card gets pre- authorized but then that amount needs 14 days after check out and payment of bill to be re-credited into cc account! Cleanliness is only ok but acceptable for price. Nothing really !!. Damp clothing took a long time to dry. Plug for kettle and toaster had to share the same one as the microwave oven. Bit of a nuisance. Other plugs in kitchen did not have a surface on which to put things in in order to use them. Our stay was entirely during the ramadan fasting period. Restaurants were closed during fasting period. Locating the hotel first time was a problem. Interior decor just a little dated for a newish hotel - but not too bad - I am an architect!. unfortunately the wifi didnt work well but the stuff tried to fix the problem. On arrival attitude of duty manager was very rude and aggressive,he must attend a hospitality school to improve his mannerism and attitude. However having said that the other staff at front desk was very nice and later on also apologized to me. The room service is kinda slow. You have to wait for 30mins or an hour to have what you requested for. The only negative point was that the rooftop swimming pool was closed due to maintenance. The rooms are a little noisy with traffic noises from the nearby Sheik Zayeid Road. Nothing at all. It was just perfect!. As my 2 children had to sleep on the sofa bed, it was uncomfortable for them. But the king size bed was excellent. nothing specific. Except there was one staff member who helped us get into the parking lot who wanted a tip and was very pushy about it. Not exactly sure why. But obviously this was just him, because the next person on shift didn't try to pull anything like that. For a stop over this accomodation provided great value for money. Sometimes a little odour in the bathroom - but absolutely not too disturbing.
