The hotel is run by caring and professional hosts who provide a very pleasant hotel experience. The Indian restaurant next door is particularly good and at a reasonable price. Breakfast was delicious - poached eggs excellent. Very clean. Stayed in the annex - was nice and quiet. Location good. Breakfast and service very good. Staff helpful.Comfortable bed. Lots of clean white towels. Interesting old building. Handy for river. convenience a good welcome and valu for money. The friendlieness of the staff. Clean rooms and decor fresh and pretty new. I complained and a room with a bath was provided; but I was lucky! The hotel was excellent but the promised facilities must be provided as described. Double check! More care should be taken when making these Special Price offers.absence of car park. pillows weren't very comfortable. Poor Breakfast. Noisy (near building site and pubs). Instant coffee with breakfast. Lots of stairs to climb with suitcase. Overpowering "air fresheners". No thermostat on radiator. Owner not particularly friendly.Major draw back was parking the car. No where to park to drop off bags other than on double yellow lines on a busy narrow access road that leads to a large public car park behind the hotel. Parking in that car park is £3 from 8am to 8pm so is expensive if you arrive before 8pm and leave after breakfast starts at 8am. Rooms and facilities a lot smaller than expected. The noise outside at night was bad. We had rowdy students from 1am to 4am shouting and smashing bottles. Owners not particularly friendly until we got talking at breakfast.No parking,thought breakfast times between 8 and 9 on a weekend too early would be better to serve breakfast between 8 and 10am. Breakfast good on quantity but poor on quality. Breakfast very poor full English equals one cheap sausage, two choppedmushrooms one slice of tomato and a piece of bacon and an egg. Plenty oftoast though but poor value for the price.Portable TV virtually on the ceiling. Impossible to watch with any degree of comfort - really didn't like that!. The hotel owner was grumpy and very rude to visitors sat at other tables during breakfast.The man running reception when we checked in at 3pm wasn't terribly polite nor did he take us up to our room he handed myself the keys and just pointed us out where to hed for.

The old market town has a good deal to offer, a wealth of half timbered Tudor buildings, magnificent Georgian houses, a splendid river, beautiful gardens and narrow winding streets. There is lots to see in Shrewsbury including several museums, the castle and famous Abbey. Organised daily tours (in summer) are available with official guides to explain the history of the town.
Shopping in Shrewsbury is well served. As well as most of the big multiples there are antiques and secondhand bookshops, boutiques, a craft market and Victorian Arcade; most of them in narrow side streets and passageways. We also have one of the best wine merchants in the country.
