The history is fascinating. For a short while after 1942, the property was owned by the Coldstream Guards Association (and there is obviously still a connection as recent copies of the annual Regimental Magazine are in the bar area). &Quot;Nulli Secundus", or "Second to None" is the motto of the Coldsteam Guards and this traditional inn certainly aspires to that! We stayed for two nights in order to have a short spring break with our small dog. The accommodation was comfortable and the owne.
all reviews » What a fantastic gastro pub, after travelling around the south west of the UK as part of our travels, the Coldstreamer was one of the best. The food from the restaurant was superb. The pub itself is in a great location just minutes from the centre of Penzance in a small village called Gulval - very quiet and parking right outside. Much better than being in the busy city centre. The staff were very friendly as were the Locals who used the Inn. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food at the Coldstreamer was exceptional, the Inn was situated in the village of Guval which was quiet and tranquil with easy access to Penzance and St Michaels mount both a walkable distance. All in all a great place to stay. Everything about this pub was excellent. The staff were friendly,the food was really good, the room was spotless and very spacious. Will be recommending to all of our friends that visit Cornwall that this is a terrific, central place to stay from which to tour the area. Nice relaxed village atmosphere - but close to Penzance. Friendly staff and local people. Excellent food and drinks. Spotlessly clean room with comfortable bed. We would recommend The Coldstreamer to anyone visiting the area. could not fault this place. The only disappointment we had was that providing a packed lunch was advertised when we booked. While we were told the chef could put something together for us, everything would be individually priced so it made it hard to budget. We would have liked to see a small packed lunch menu - maybe one or two choices with a veggie option - maybe even with chef's own pasties on the list?. Absolutely nothing. Only one chair in room. nothing. Heating hard to get on, could have asked for help I'msure. Bath room cold due to draughty sash window and poor heating in there. A few cobwebs and a bit of dust. Nothing, ...having to leave!. En-suite a bit tired & in need of updating. Nothing. Difficult to find. Nothing. All good. Nothing. The windows in my room really need replacing. you can hear all the noise from the pub below and also there was no designated on site parking.
