Lovely hotel, friendly staff, during our stay the weather was great so we got to use the pool which was excellent. The room itself was huge with a sea view. The breakfasts were another plus point. I would have no hesitation in reccomending this hotel to others. The service was exceptional, room newly refurbished with wonderful seaview and the secluded, heated outdoor pool was a treat.

No table at breakfast allocated on first morning, and last morning, had to stand and wait whilst table laid up, embarrassing, this was our only minor dislike.The evening meal could have been better. It was extremely hot, which my wife liked but I did not. My wife is a strict vegetarian and we found the menu for dinner rather lacking in choice.It was very quiet, this is not a negative. had to wait for drinks at bar as nobody there to serve on occasions.Bed quite small. Bath taps difficult to access due to shower screen and tiling. Bathroom could have been bigger. Breakfast served only until 9.30am. When checking out they tried to charge me £20 more per night and only recognised the reduction when I showed them print outs of the internet booking ( I was prepared since I had read previous references). Single bed was a bit small for me - I'm 6ft 2". The room was hot despite opening the windows. We discovered the towelrail in the bathroom was full on. We had to ask for a fan. Change of seating evry day for breakfast.Food not too good. we were there over a very cold spell and our room was a bit on the chilly side. The bathroom was very old fashioned and could do with a bit of modernising. The towel rail didnt work.Dinner was not always very good, I believe they were using frozen food defrosted. Sometimes courses were subsituted without being told. For example instead of receiving fillet of trout I received salmon. The restrautant manager tried to convince me otherwise. The roast beef was very poor, no taste. Another time we received pork instead of duck. I ordered room service for breakfast at 7:00 on Saturday morning, as breakfast is not available before 8:00. I had to phone reception twice to ask why there was a delay, finally got breakfast nearly 1/2 hour late. This is just not acceptable.At the topof hill, could be problem for people wit mobility problems. Very old lift, with only room for three people!. Could do with a sauna and steam room. the rooms were very very hot. they needed to put fans in them or opened the windows before we arrived. It was a very hot night but sleeping was difficult in the heat of the room. Television in room was tiny and also didn't work so had another one putin but channels limited and sound and picture quality was awlful.Bedding was not very comfortable, just a sheet, blanket and cover. Alsobreakfast was not up to the standard of many other hotels I've been toowhich also charged a lesser rate per night.
