Old Churches House was superb in every way. The food was excellent. The room was extremely comfortable. The shower was great. The location across from Dunblane Cathedral was quiet and yet awe inspiring. The atmosphere of the House was delightful - cosy, simple, not "cookie cutter" at alln not over the top or glitzy, luxurious simplicity, actually. Extremely tasteful. We have already recommended Old Churches House to family and friends, and would definitely stay there again.
all reviews » We had a very good room with good facilities. Friendly staff. In-house restaurant was very good so we ate there on all 3 nights. The situation is superb, opposite Dunblane Cathedral. We were able to park right outside the hotel in the very quiet street and if that had not been possible the public car park was just across the churchyard and in sight. We had a great stay. A friendly welcome and efficient check-in. Intimate establishment with clean fresh rooms which appealed instantly. Lovely outlook in a lovely town. Lovely breakfast freshly made. A stroll to the Golden Postbox celebrating the Olympic success of Andy Murray. Well worth considering if attending a function at the Hydro. we arrived very late but Brian stayed up and met us and then gave us great advice about local things to do including a wee drink at the local pub, much needed after the journey. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever and a great choice of pillows. lovely powerful shower. High standard of decor - clean, boutique style rooms. Lovely huge bed. Quiet location and central to the village. Easy access to great rail routes to main cities from the local station. Fab food and friendly service in the restaurant. The hotel is tastefully decorated and rooms are clean and welcoming. The staff went out of their way to be helpful at all times and were extremely respectful of my disabled status. The Scottish breakfast was excellent. The decor was tasteful and the view from the room was lovely. The breakfast was delicious and it was good quality food. There was a fantastic real ale pub a short distance away. The bed was comfortable. Lovely room and location of hotel was good. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Evening meal in restaurant was good, although our table was a bit dark for even reading the menu and service was quite slow. The location was excellent, right in the centre of the city. We had no complaints at all - maybe new wallpaper or paint in the bathroom, which was flecked with staining of some sort, but this was the only thing that we would change, as everything else was so lovely. Nothing. Breakfast could have gone on a bit later, we were too tired to get up that early. Nothing of real concern. Would have like a hair drier in the room. The hotel lift was out of order, so it made it difficult for me due to my disability climbing the stairs, which we had to do to reach our room and the bar/restaurant area. There was no bedside table and no reading light, which for an avid reader like myself did cause some problems!. Breakfast was disappointing - no pastries, cheeses or meats as per menu and cooked breakfast was average (sausage tasteless, haggis/black pudding dry and my poached egg was nearly all yolk with barely any white and tasted vinegary). Difficult reading in bed as only bed light was on one side set back in an alcove. No hairdryer in room, which is normally provided in a hotel. Nothing at all. Well, if I had to pick something, I do prefer having a bath tub with shower rather than just a shower. Can't think of anything.Oh, the cold water pressure at the handbasin in the bathroom was a little excessive. But you only get caught out once. Afterwards you are very careful when using it!!!. Breakfast looked good,however eggs overdone and everything else under-cooked.Is this fashionable these days. No complaints at all. No wardrobe in room. Our room was not cleaned on the second day and as we didn't get in till late we had no opportunity to get the job done so no shower gel or shampoo tea/coffee ect. Also have to say that the cooked breakfasts were awful. Especially the undercooked eggs. I avoided cooked breakfasts completely after the first day. Nothing. Nothing at all. Not a lot!. What is there to dislike?. lighting in bedroom poor. Shade hid what little lighting there was. Corridors bit youth hostel/travelodge feel- could do with breaking up a bit with features. Very small tv in room. Hotel newly opened so some teething problems. The bread I ordered during dinner time.
