Close proximity to railway station and Bullring/city centre, easy walking distance. Clean, modern and stylish yet calm and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly and efficient staff from check-in, bar in the evening, through to breakfast next morning. Overnight stay was for purpose of attending concert at nearby football stadium, taxi's waiting outside hotel door and bar still open on return and 24 hr availability of snacks very welcome, (cheeseboard lovely!) Checkout not until 11am so breakfast very rel.
all reviews » Receptionist gave very clear and concise directions to find the car park - better than my sat-nav - a very good start and representative of the excellent, helpful and friendly staff throughout our stay!! The restaurant serves superb quality food and was well worth the wait. Rooms are large, comfortable and well appointed with funky design elements. The hotel sits in a superb location for most of Birmingham's attractions. This hotel has a positive spirit. Facilities are excellent, the restaurant is good, cocktails at the bar are very good, the staff is genuinly friendly. Hotels like these become rare. also: The location is ideal. Take the train from the airport to new street station or Moor street station and you can walk to the hotel. Shopping is very close as well. I loved this hotel as it is very modern and really well presented. I preferred it to other more expensive city hotels I have stayed in. Everything has a top quality finish. Even having to park a few hundred yards down the road at the bullring you get parking for £5 (not limited to one car) which saves plenty of money in the city center. I liked the hotel, from outside and in amazing decor. my room was so clean and we loved the magical lights amazing tech. Staff was very nice and helpful, i like the do it yourself check in system. pillows was so amazing and comfy!!! had such a good sleep :-) i recommend to everyone. its one of the best hotels ive been! should be 5*!. Hotel really exceeded expectations of a 4 star hotel. It was very new and super stylish. Room was nice and clean. The location was perfect for us to go shopping in the Bull Ring and it was very easy getting to and from the hotel by train from the airport. The breakfast buffet had a fine selection and the price was very reasonable. Spacious comfortable rooms with top class Television, whose sound could be independently transferred to the bathroom. Top range Villeroy and Bosch bathrooms fittings. Delicous breakfast although expensive £15.95, and extremely helpful and charming staff. Proper grinding and working salts and peppers. The cleanliness of the rooms was great and when we went out the maid came in and we got fresh towels and fresh toiletries the design of the hotel is very modern which I really like, the location is great for shopping etc and the aalto restaurant at the hotel is amazing. We didnt have dressing gowns in our executive suite as they arent provided as standard in that room category but they happily delivered them to us. The bedrooms are spacious, clean and quiet. As mentioned in other reviews shower did run out onto bathroom floor, but just turned it down slightly and soaked up excess water with bath mat, would definitely not spoil stay!. Instant coffee in the rooms - a coffee bag or rombouts type of one-cup filter would be more in keeping. A party of 20 in the function room meant a 40 minute delay in a (one quarter full) restaurant - would expect the function to be covered with extra staff; we saw at least three couples turn around and walk off when told of the wait so probably lost money on it too. Shower flooded out the door of the bathroom. honestly: nothing. The only small downside was a bit of traffic noise in the morning. *Breakfast looked costly *The bluetooth wasnt working to play my music from my phone through the speakers. Being super picky here, but some condition in the bath amenities selection would have be nice. Also, I couldn't get the TV to work. But I didn't follow this up as i didn't have time to watch TV really during my stay. Paying for the expensive breakfast although I could not knock the quality. Poor view over road and what looked like an abandoned NCP car park. - A little Overpriced but would stay again - small wardrobe - no bathrobe - bit of a walk to car park - water from shower leaks into room (from other reviews seems to be design flaw) - no table service. Nothing. The lack of parking - Had to pay 5 gbp / 12 hours to have my car parked in a field which could not be seen from my room. They didn't have fridge in the room although they offered to keep things for us which was not a practical idea as we love to drink our water cold I also didn't like both male staff working at the front disk as every time we pass you could tell they gossiped and giggle... wasn't professional at all . Also no doorman. Also no porter or trolley to carry your bags. A minute detail: the screen for logging on to WiFi is a tad confusing. Nothing negative. There was nothing I didn't like. Nothing!. Very poor (and expensive) choice of room service after 10pm - I arrived by train which had no catering so, although it's not the hotel's fault, I hadn't eaten for 11 hrs by the time I arrived! Breakfast was very expensive - it was good but over-priced at £15.95. The breakfast is relatively poor: cooked is OK, but not always fresh. The "continental" is restricted to dull cereals, cheap fruit juice and tired pastries. Not worth the money at all. To see what good looks like in a comparable hotel, go to the Malmaison or Hotel du Vin instead. It is a false economy to cut corners here!!. I wish they had a spa section/ wet spa somewhere. I believe that facility would have topped off the whole experience. Nothing. Nothing. The forks in the restaurant are poorly balanced - too heavy in the stem. That is literally the only bad thing I can say about this hotel, which pretty much says everything. The hotel seemed to be in an odd location in the middle of a very busy road (not a complaint). would have liked breafast to be included. No I pod dock and media centre in the room as advertised at the time of booking. Would have liked a bath in my room Phone signal in the hotel is unusually non-existent. Nothing all very good , breakfast could have been a little cheeper !!! Consideration !. The parking situation. I would have enjoyed the whole experience a lot more if the hotel had its own parking attached to the premises. Its a bit of a mission driving round the block every time to get to the front of the hotel although it wouldn't put me off staying there again. bar prices car parking although close didn't seem very secure. As the location is suited for guests arriving by car,it is surrounded by busy roads, which can be noisy at times. As the hotel is mainly for business people with expense accounts,to eat here is very costly compared to using local food outlets. There was a powercut in the area one afternoon which seriously affected the Hotel. This was not the fault of the Hotel, and they coped with the situation as well as they could and in an efficient manner. Breakfast trays were empty/low on food upon arrival at 8.30, not checked by staff til we left at 9. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Not as good a choice of cereals, meat, bread, etc. as one would expect for a 4* hotel. No swimming pool or sauna. The locality is on the edge of the city centre development and still a rough area. I asked for confirmation email of restaurant booking twice and never received it. Unfortunately the hotel charge me 3 x £25 on top of the amount, fortunately for me i had enough on my card otherwise imagine what would happen?. Not so keen on self-service check-in although there was a member of staff to guide through the process. Would have preferred a member of staff to carry out the check-in. The room advertised was with a city view. In fact, room 715's view was directly opposite an apartment complex which was disappointing.
