This hotel has a fantastic rooms, very modern, with plenty of space with real comfort together with all gadget facilities as internet, tv, coffe machine. I´d like to come back again to Basel and stay again in the Royal. Car park is situated near hotel, about 3 min walk, very good connection with center. Excellent welcome and personal service in English! Space and two armchairs in room 401. Proper size double bed - not two pushed together. Convenient location directly opposite Tram/ Bus and Basel Badischer railway stations.
all reviews » Big room,nice interior and the bath room was clean. No reception so check-in with a machine, worked fast and easy. Breakfast had enough choice and food was tasteful. The rom was clean and silent. No problems with the automatized check-in. In sum a very comfortable stay. Friendly staff (part time though) , clean rooms with air conditioning, good public transport connection in front of the hotel with the hotel free bus passes for the city. STAFF was friendly and professional. - big room. Check-in machine outside the hotel. Rejected two different bank cards and needed personal attention from reception staff. No "hotel" infrastructure (unmanned desk, no way to print or scan anything, no one to ask any locale questions); outside intercom impossible to understand voice. No minibar. Having to stand outside at the self check-in machine and type details like my passport number when it was -4c No staff around if there is a problem - it seems very weird to arrive in a hotel with nobody around. There are no staff at the location. The self-check worked very well but we would have liked to have stored our suitcases at the front desk for a few hours. Hotel's Japanese restaurant very limited. The staff can't speak English. location is opposite of the main city train station and trains passing by all night long , impossible to get a good night sleep ( too noisy) Staff at reception only work half day ( some days even less hours) , so it's very cold and unpersonal enviroment ( not welcoming at all ). Too expensive compare the services which are offered. Room was quite noisy. - didn't see any staff members - automatic check-in.
