The staff was incredibly helpful at all times and made us feel welcome. lots of sight-seeing and hiking. The roof and staff were superb!. The staff all spoke english and were very helpful. The room was modernand spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful, good breakfast buffet, I was allowed to take a towel from the hotel to the beach, the room was clean and friendly and comfortable.Staff was very friendly. Room clean and quiet. Choice of pillows.It was a good hotel, the price a little on the high side but it's San Sebastian. Good rooms,helpfull,friendly staff,good position.Friendliness of the staff and the excellent location. The receptionist was very nice to my children, although she didn't get around to attend to us immediately. She gave them colouring sets which were made good use of. She also asked about which Frequent Flier mileage I wanted to get credited. The hotel is close to the beach and a big supermarket.The hotel is not far from the beach but it took about half an hour towalk to the old town, we didn't mind but if you're staying for a fewdays it might get a bit irritating. You have to pay for parking but thegarage was underground and secure. This does not concern the hotel itself, but rather the location. I had friends staying in a different hotel at the other side of the town, more in the center of San Sebastian proper, and because of the layout of the town and the hills between different parts of the town, walking would have taken too long - so I had to use taxis quite a lot, and even by car there was no straight connection.Unfortunately people in Spain still smoking in public places, even though there are supposed to be smoke free as the rest of Europe. Our room was ok but could smell the tobaco in the corridors and lifts. This is a problem of attitude of the people everywhere in Spain. There was no tissue box (except for 3 in a small packet) which was a problem as we all had a cold. The rooms don't have carpets because the summer guests will bring sand in. In the winter, it's a little inconveient. An electric hot water kettle would have been nice to have tea in the room, as wel as a clothes line over the tub to dry washed clothes. There was a little bit of hair in the bathroom, particularly in the tub which I detest.

The hotel has a privileged location, only 100 metres from Ondarreta beach and one of the city's most beautiful promenades, "El peine de los vientos". At the end of this promenade you can admire the sculptures made by the genius Chillida with the Bay of Biscay on the background. The promenade also leads to the beautiful Miramar gardens, with the impressive Miramar Palace that once was the royal residence. Here, you will have one of the most beautiful views of the city and its bay. There are different stops in front of the hotel, allowing you to easily reach any part of the city. The train and bus station can be reached in 5 minutes by car. The airport is situated in the nearby city of Fuenterrabia, 20 minutes by car from San Sebastián.
A walk across the Bay will lead you to the city's fisher's port, with its many restaurants and bars. Next to the port, you will find the lovely Accuarium- Donostia and close to that, the Paseo Nuevo, the area where the waves of the Bay of Biscay bang into the rocks, under the watchful eye of the Christ of the Sacred Heart on the Urgull mountain. Also close to the hotel, you can make a cable car trip to mount Igeldo, admiring the city from the highest point. Also close by: an amusement park in Belle Epoque-style.
