We chose the Posada Del Gragon both for its location and design. In both these, and more, this hotel excelled and impressed. It is modern, immaculate both in terms of design and cleanliness and is customer friendly at every stage; always eager to please. Centrally located in the La Latina district within a short walk or Metro to all major Madrid sights and convenient for authenitic tapas bars and resteraunts. Room options cover all tastes and budgets and as one would expect from a boutique .
all reviews » From the moment you approach this hotel you feel welcome. The staff are true professionals who are happy to go the extra mile. The rooms are small but perfectly formed with wonderful design touches and very efficient a/c and water pressure. The food is excellent and good value, although the breakfast at first seems expensive, the choices are amazing and well worth it. But what really makes this hotel is the staff. If you enjoy good service this is the place to stay in a fantastic area of madri. Madrid is a wonderful city and I loved this hotel! It was in a fabulous location, on a bustling street packed with bars and restaurants, in walking distance to the main sights and metro's. The hotel was beautiful too; we had a balcony room which looked over the street at the front. It was very modern and tasteful in its design. Beds were extremely comfy and it was spotlessly clean. We were also offered a welcome drink which was a lovely touch. I would definately stay at this hotel again. This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel, and it was just as great as last year. It is in a wonderful area, very close to Plaza Mayor and near many tapas bars. We walked almost everywhere. The staff is also very nice and accommodating. Our flight landed in Madrid in the morning, well before the standard checkin time. After 14 hours of traveling, we were so grateful that they let us checkin early. There is a nice little bar and restaurant in the bottom floor of the hotel. Omg! Where do I begin? The staff were so nice! The breakfast at Posada del Dragon was the best breakfast I have had in a very long time. That is how bacon is supposed to taste! The pastries were delicious and so fresh! I loved how my gin and tonics were served! And my room was amazing! My floor was made out of thick glass that showcased an early Arab-built stone wall. I loved the shower, too. Great location. I will most definitely be returning to Posada del Dragon. Just fantastic. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is boutique style and modern with all comforts and facilities included. The best part about this great little hotel was the food, which is cooked by top class chefs as you watch. Fresh ingredients, beautifully cooked - the true art of cooking. The bar which serves wonderful tapas and great gin and tonics is certainly among the best I've ever experienced. Highly recommend the Port of Dragons to everyone. Thanks. The staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Daniela was very fluent in English which made for excellent communication. The welcome cocktail of beer or wine upon check in is a nice touch. The hotel itself is in a great location, the rooms are hip and modern and there are plenty of great bars and restaurants nearby. Downstairs is the restaurant La Antonita which is definitely worth a visit; food is excellent and staff is friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Since I was travelling on business, the location was a major factor: excellent in that regard. Although situated in an area full of restaurants and bars, my room was overlooking the inner courtyard and was quiet at night. (The inner courtyard at the time was not used as an extension of the restaurant.) The shower was great and I liked the clenliness and the decor of the whole building too. The wifi worked well. The staff were excellent. Everything...service, location, rooms and bar were awesome. There is fantastic soundproofing between the rooms and downstairs. This hotel is located right on Tapas Alley and you couldn't hear a thing including the restaurant/bar downstairs, but the best part was the entire staff from the manager, concierge, servers, bartenders etc. They were very friendly and helpful at all times, even after we checked out. Bravo!. The staff at Posada del Dragon was exceptional. Everyone - reception, restaurant staff and cleaning staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all excellent. We had a room with a balcony on the third floor. Everything was exactly as we had asked for. When we come back to Madrid we will definitely be staying at the Posada del Dragon again. The room is good, well designed and comfortable. There's a bar and a restaurant down at the first floor, all beautiful and cozy, though you will have a feeling that everything here is quite small. Iberian Pork in the restaurant is great, try it :). A beautiful singer a guitarist played music on Tuesday night during the time I was there. Great location, less than 5 minutes from Metro, plenty of restaurants and bars in the same street,and only 2 minutes from the Plaza Mayor. The room was very design and clean. I had a room with beautiful view on San Isidro's church. There is a safe in the room ( no extra cost).Would stay at this hotel again and recommend to others. If this is something you would wish for or is important to you then this will need to highlighted when booking. Having to leave!. The bedroom was at one end of the room and shower room and toilet were at the opposite end but there was no door separating the two areas thus making the whole room open plan. (There were doors on the shower and toilet by the way!) This did not bother my friend or I though. Also, if you are a very light sleeper the noise from the street could bother you. But I would suggest walking around the whole of Madrid (easily done) and then you're soo tired you will sleep like a log!. Nothing, really. This was a nice boutique hotel. That I couldn't have stayed longer!. Parking is difficult as in most city centres. On Cava Baja can be OK on weekends but the best bet is the public underground parking at the nearby market, a short walk away. The room we stayed in opens off of an open air atrium. The disadvantage to this was a bit of noise from the bar below. A trace of cigarette smoke was noticeable but only once in a three night stay so it wasn't a big deal. We would have preferred a room with operable windows. Those are available for a slightly higher room rate. There was a serious lack of ventilation in the tiny room which could become quite stuffy. There was no way to open the windows to let in some fresh air. Privacy could also be an issue for some as there were only flimsy paper screens covering the two glass panes overlooking the passageway. A minor issue for me, until I got used to them. Nothing and I really mean it. Nothing. Everything was absolutely perfect. Weak wifi ( after a few minutes normally connected it just stops working ) and this during al lthe stay. As the hotel is on a pretty busy street with lots of bars and restaurants it can get a little noisy at night so light sleepers take note. Also, some of the rooms only have windows that look into the inner hotel courtyard which may be an issue to some people. Nothing at all. Nothing. We were on the first floor over the tapas bar but this was just regular city noise. Bathrooms are a bit small but make excellent use of space. Parking was a bit of a pain. The only thing I can say I did not like is the size of the room, small, but it did not bother me much, given that I spent only few sleep hours in the room, to recover from long nights out :-). Slightly noisey at night but in a great location so to be expected. Could have used a full length mirror in room. The restaurant is in an open air atrium so smoking is allowed. The hotel rooms surround the atrium so the smoke easily makes its way to the rooms. We could still hear the people in the bar and restaurant at 2am. Don't epect breathtaking view from your room/. Rooms are quite small. First room, 206, was very small for a double, but they let me move as soon as another one opened up. Wi-fi did not work in my rooms. street noise. No onsite parking. Rooms were very small. No window in our room. There was nothing we did not like - superb!. Not much storage space. Just that there was no waste bin in the room, and the fact that it was too warm to sleep at night, as the 'fresh air' was not cold enough to cool the room down. Window open meant too much noise from outside. The room was supermodern which meens unpractical. No wardrobe or boxes for t-shirts, underware, socks ext. Carpetfloor in front of shower and under the sink, soap in laboratorytube!, no hook in shower for towel, big room but no place to sit and wach tv. room was small, but fine, my room did not have window that opened to outside. the only two things i didn't like were: 1. not having a window (except ino the atrium which afforded no privacy) 2. only having one pillow - need to provide more and a variety of thickness etc. They could include breakfast in the price.
