I was en route back home to Pamplona via train, so the proximity to Ayoxha was ideal. All I wanted was a clean, safe place to stay and where I could take a long shower after traveling all day from Reykjavik. Chic & Basic delivered that and more. Pleasant staff, super cute room and I checked out the roof terrace which looked divino. It was nice to have bath gel and the free drinks and fruit downstairs were a nice touch. Pretty much everything! It was very clean, fresh, and bright. The
atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. We were extra thrilled about the
cold water, ice, tea, coffee, fruit and crackers in the lobby. The cold
water was a God send after adventuring around the city for the day! The
location was wonderful. We walked everywhere around the city, and took
the train from Atocha to Toldeo and the airport and also in from
Barcelona - it was so easy!.
All the staff we met were very friendly & helpful and can speek good English. Location is good. Atocha is in 15 mins of walking distance. And several tranditional resteraunts r just on the next corners. We have breakfast there every morning we stayed. Room is simple, but considering the price, I think it is reasonable. Fruits, biscuits and tea and coffee r 24 hrs in the lobby.
The hotel looks like a ipad inspired space ship, very cute, chic, and modern. The room is good size considered it is in the middle of the city. Room is very clean and shower extremely comfortable. Location is very good, close to train, museums, and streets with great restaurants. Very fun and convenient.
Modern design, comfortable, quiet, basic but fulfilled all needs. Excellent having the good coffee machine available all of the time. Location is perfect, one block or so to the magnificent Retiro Park, Prado, Reina Sofia, Thysen, train station and Caixia Forum.
I loved Chic and Basic. They were just what their name said. They had everything we needed and nothing we didn't need. The staff was absolutely wonderful to us. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Everything-starting with location which is very close to Atocha railway station, design of lobby, room-its design and functionality and most important the staff-all very friendly and eager to help.

Simple pleasing hotel design, friendly staff, wifi has simple password only login and works in room (how many hotels get this wrong!), good atocha location, free coffee.

It is not unsatisfaction but just a friendly reminder for those who wanna spend long time in hotel for leisuring. It is kind of hotel just as convenient hotel. We went out every day for city trip so only spent less time in hotel. Convenience and clean r our first choice.
The AC did not work too well, but for early May, the temperature was acceptable. The room did not have wifi reception, but it´s not a big deal.

Molt in bathroom and leaking shower. Really warm in room,
airconditioning didn't function. Can't charge batteries during
the night because you have to leave the lights on. If you leave the
power on, there is a bright orange light you can't switch of.
Didn't receive new towels but they did take the used ones. If you
come from outside you have to ring the bell so the receptionist can let
you in, but they are not always there. Breakfast is no more than coffee,
tea, apples and cookies.
Room is a bit small.
The room wasn´t clean.
The wash basin was too near the bed. It should have been placed in the bathroom so that there is more space in the bedroom.
