We loved everything about this accommodation! Our first time in Granada and we quickly realised what a brilliant location Sacramonte was to stay in. You need a reasonable level of fitness as it abounds with steep and winding cobbled paths, but we were amply rewarded as we rambled past picturesque hillside dwellings and enjoyed the incredible views across the valley to the Alhambra. The cave house was easy to find despite some reviews to the contrary (we just followed the signs from the taxi dro. all reviews »
Great to stay in the old city area of Granada, next to Albaycin in Sacramonte. Once you get your bearings walking through the old town and the hills, you'll love the area. Walking around late at night was not a problem and we loved the late night dining. Beautiful area of the world if you like the non-commercial travel destinations. If you need a fix there is the newer city of Granada with Plaza Nueva down the hill, surrounded by more modern shops and eateries. Cuevas el Abanico is a great plac.
This is my favorite place to stay in all of Spain. I have stayed here with the whole family(4 kids) as well as just my husband and I. Unique accommodations overlooking a unique site - the Alhambra. Neat shopping in medieval Granada, cathedral, beautiful Riverwalk, Sacromonte Museum, evenings filled with the sound of Flamenco, etc. - all walkable. We park the car and stay as long as possible.
Everything, it was just a really lovely place to stay. Room was cosy, comfy and clean, and the veranda just gorgeous. Its extremely good value, with very welcoming touches such as a basket of croissants, jam and coffee. And the little kitchenette provided oil, vinegar and salt - all things that are important but you wouldn't want to buy for a short stay. Very well run in a low key way.
Apartments are in unique caves, in a very original setting and
neighbourhood. Staff is very friendly. Make sure you let them know when
you arrive, there are only 5 apartments and they are not present all
day. Good value for money, kitchen limited though sufficient for a few
days and simple meals.
The apartment (cave house) was located in the oldest part of Granada with a terrasse. From the street one had a spectacular view of the Albambra. The area was extremely quiet.
The manager sent us detailed directions how to get to the apartment as this was very difficult.
Really helpful staff, very picturesque and in a great location in Sacromonte. Cool cave-room with all basic facilities and fantastic shady little garden in front. 10' walk to the center following a wonderfull route next to Darro river down to Plaza Nueva.
Amazing, great location for checking out the Alhambra and the Albaicin. Staying in the caves is an experience in itself, and its in the perfect location to soak up the atmosphere!! Owner made great recommendations, very helpful. Highly recommend!!!.
I loved staying in the Sacromonte area of Granada. It was lovely to wander around all the little streets as well as a short walk to the centre of town.

The setting is fantastic, the owners and staff were really lovely. I will hopefully be back again.
Good stay , nice view , very cosy inside facility superb and wifi solid.
Setting was excellent and the concept unique and most interesting.
the fact that it was a cave, well laid out, nice decor, comfy bed.
Absolutely fantastic apartments. Everything was perfect.
the neighbourhood! and being a cavewoman.
the location.
Novelty of sleeping in a cave, very quiet, lovely views, comfortable bed, interesting old town area, could walk into the city centre & to the Alhambra (we like walking!).
One minor point 'cos we love our tea, there wasn't a kettle to boil water, but we used the saucepan on the hotplate.
The initial shock of walking in the 42+ degree heat up the steep hills, surrounded by stones and rendered buildings dragging the suitcases. After that you get used to it. If this doesn't sound appealing, don't visit in July or August. We'd do it again though.
There are a lot of hills in that walking. But I prefer an active vacation. Buses available. The Alhambra is crowded during the traditional summer travel months. I love it in March but before June should be fine. Staff is not available 24/7 for your travel comfort. Be prepared and flexible; the staff will be as well. I left early and emailed my payment when no one was available; worked out fine.
Nothing. Visitors should bear in mind that its not the most accessible place and involves fairly steep slopes, but no problem for able bodied people.
Nothing. Ok, the apartment is difficult to find, you need to do your
homework and figure out the driving directions on a street map. It's
a somewhat steep climb from the street to the apartment, but that's
part of its unique setting.
150m uphill on a narrow stone-paved road is the shortest distance to the rooms from your car or the bus stop, so make sure you have few luggage...
Avoid getting there or departing on Friday-Saturday night, the place is really crowded.
Getting there is a bit on nerves.
The back of the settee was unattached, if leaned on it either collapsed or shed plaster on the floor. It would have been good to have somewhere comfortable to relax. Clear instructions for arrival by car - maybe a detailed map would help.
the shower wasn't great.
For those who don't like walking the caves are a little out of town, ca 15 minutes from Plaza Nueva and 10 minutes to the upper Albayzin. Also you cannot drive to the entrance and have to climb up some rather steep stairs.
hard bed, like all spain!.
Very basic catering facilities,no tv, lighting in living area & kitchen/ dining space not good for reading, difficult to drive to & find.
