Friendly staff, good and varied continental breakfast, privacy and location. Very good location and very friendly staff.The view from the window was also amazing.We were looking for a low-cost option for an overnight stay in Amsterdam before flying to UK the next day. We wanted convenient access to Centraal Train station but in a quieter part of town away from the Red-Light District. The Hotel Ramanas is adjacent to the quiet but picturesque Jordaan Area and only 2 stops by bus from Centraal Station.

Laughs. nice place,friendly stuff,very nice rooms. It is walkng distance to the train station and enables a whole family to stay in one room. If you do not mind using a toilet outside of your room and no cupboards it provides simple and convenient accommodation. It is also close to some good, small and friendly restaurants. The staff member was very helpful and took phone messages for me (as my mobile was not working) and sorted out a key problem. close to all bars and cafes. We had own balcony. It was nicely located, relatively quiet, the staff let us place our bags into our room before the check in time, it was pretty cheap.It was close to where I needed to be, but also close to the main sights etc. Recommended for someone staying for just a couple of nights. People staying for a longer period may want to pay the extra for a bigger room, phone, roomservice, and regular check out times etc. But for someone, like myself, who just needs a room, bed, shower and tv for two nights, it was good value. I would stay there again. I enjoyed the area the hotel was in as it was easy to get to the centre of the city or to get away from the hustle and bustle of other tourists. The studio apartments location is right in the heart of the Jordan, and on Sataday morning one of Amsterdams main markets is on ones doorstep. Clean room and good location.The hotel staff was available for our questions, and quite nice, except the boss. They have studios 3 min away from the hotel, which are very roomy, and they're in a nice and quiet neighborhood. Wifi is available in the hotel, and the studios. The hotel is located in a central zone of the city, the neighborhood is charming and the view from the apartment is wonderful.Cheap, friendly staff, good location in a lively area, railway station within walking distance. Really close to the center, the building looks like an old canal house, friendly people...Friendly manager and staff. Great location. There was a good coffee shop over the road. The persons of the hotel were very kindly.Excellent part of town, and wireless internet worked wonderfully. Localisation. almost nothing except location. We knew the hotels in the narrow old Amsterdam houses have small rooms and steep stairs. That didn't bother us, but the double bed we booked turned out to be more like a 3/4 bed, about 120cm wide, so was a bit difficult to sleep comfortably. But as it was only one night, and the price was good, we would still recommend it.The bathroom smelled like somebody mildewed to death in there. A couple of the rooms are tiny. If you're with a group stay in the 4person room which is much bigger.The room was very small with two single beds in it. The bathroom was shower and toilet sharing the same floor, the sink was outside of the bathroom. Just before I booked the room I phoned to explain that I had to check out early and was told that wasn't a problem, I was also told I could pay by credit card. When I got there I was told that they don't take credit cards and check out time started at 8am, I needed to leave at 6am. I was told to leave my key in the room and leave the door open when I left. I was a bit nervous of this, but it seemed to work out ok. But I would suggest having someone at the desk 24hours.The shower was dreadful, a small investmetn in a pressure increasing pump would make it a lot better! The furniture was a bit crappy and torn, but I guess mostly people going to amsterdam to smoke marijuana would use the hotel so it was understandable, but a little off putting. The top floor had no curtains or blinds which made sleeping diffcult once the sun had come up which was very early!. our coat-rack was not in tip-top state!. the shower. The studio apartment could have done with a little upgrading, however this was reflected in the overall cost.We lived in a 2nd floor studio during our stay. The stairs are steep and surprisingly narrow. The hotel did not mention in the website that tea/coffie and soap for hand wash will not be provided. Even the house keeper told us that the soap will be provided; but it never came. The room had a "at work" look. Cables going out of walls, shower doors not installed, strong smell of moist/sewers in the bathroom, noise insulation is poor, we could hear every conversation in the studio next from us. On our 5 nights stay, no cleaning has been made. Rooms are overpriced to my standards.The apartment has a strong smell of cigarette smoke, the bathroom smells like sewer and there is mould on the shower wall. Not very clean, run-down rooms, noisy, windows almost impossible to open. Too expensive for the the not so high quality services (not bad, but expensive...). Apartment room away from the hotel was scruffy, had dangerous electrics, very noisy.The rooms are tiny - not for the claustrophobic!. The toilet was tiny.The breakfast wasn't enough. The room was rediculously small, the toilet reeked and was part of the shower, no phone in the room and it was badly rundown. Would not stay here again and am sure you can find much better hotels if you spend marginally more.No 24h reception. Very thin walls, you can hear everything. We were lucky with the neighbours and had no problems to sleep anyway. Can't compare to other same price hotels though. This is extremely basic and I would only stay here as a last resort.Just a bit more effort by the hotel owners could transform this into apleasant place to stay and perhaps they would realise that this wouldresult in more bookings in the week and they wouldn't have to rely onweekend trade only - it was full on Sunday night but we were the onlyguests there for the next two nights.Bathroom is really bad and did not change the towels. this hotel hasn't got anything about "city centre" as it's name says, we were moved to a horrible apartment three kilometres (two miles) from the city centre and there was just one bus to the centre and it wasn't really frequent, we had to take taxis every time. if you are looking for a hotel, don't go there, I guess it's ok as a hostel.location.
