first visit to Marrakech, and despite our travel books we really had not
gotton our heads around the "Riad" thing. Arriving hot and
slightly anxious, we stepped through a door into a courtyard oasis of
beauty and tranquillity. &Quot;Reception" took the form of a mint

This was a great place to stay in the heart of the medina. The area is mostly residential and in the evening you could hear the giggles of the children playing in the alley and birds roosting in the bushes. The staff were very freindly and welcoming. It is in a fantastic location, just a short walk to the souks and a little further to the square. It is easy to find as it is not far from a little square and car park, where we were able to get taxis from. Our room was very comfortable and great value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful in giving advice in where to go.

I chose the Riad dar Zahia because of the glowing comments of others and I was not disappointed in any way. I cannot fault the hospitality, care and attention that was lavished on us by Paolo, Emanuela and their wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given advice on where to eat and where to go. The family really takes care of their gests! Both so that you feel very welcome to their riad and to help you to plan/do nice things during your stay. When we need help to buy some jewellery, we were nicely followed to several serious shops and helped to get at good price. So very serviceminded! Thanks!

The rooms were cute, if a little on the plainer side compared to other riads at this level. We were actually redirected to an annex/the other riad belonging to the owner, so I'm commenting on a slightly different space. I think it was called Riad Yacout or Yacoub. I didn't actually realize we were not at Alsaad until the next morning because we were led there by one of the staff and there was no sign outside. That said, it was a nice place and breakfast was good.
