    From the moment we arrived at Fukuzumiro, we experienced Japanese culture, charm, politeness, hospitality & warmth. The building was a traditional wooden ryokan, which was actually far larger inside than it at first appeared.     Very tradiotional ryokan, ten minutes with bus from Hakone yumoto station. The rooms are large and comfortable with a beautiful view on the mountains and river. Convenient for bus transport. Futons were comfortable. Good food (feasts would be more accurates). Wi-fi available. Staff were very nice, some could speak English (enough for us to communicate).     Yumoto Fujiya Hotel wasn't super cheap, but very conveniently located, minutes from Hakone-Yumoto where you will have to change trains no matter what. It's a good place to arrive the previous night to have an easier start the next morning. The room, although not very cheap, was super spacious and comfortable. Bed: More comfortable than most beds w... what people say » e got in Japan. Breakfast: It's not cheap $20/pp, but you get a choice of mixed buffer (western + japanese) or a Japanese restaurant. AC: worked great - Excellent location very close to the train station but very quite and relaxing. We were traveling around east Japan and this was the most expensive and poshest place we stayed but it was well worth it. Staff were great. It was clean, spacious and very comfortable. According to my companion the Onsen was perfect. I chose to get a shower with the dazzling array of toiletries provided. As well as an excellent base for exploring Hakone we took a day trip to Tokyo which took under 2 hours by train.

    The Prince perhaps shows its age but in such an elegant way. Our rooms were large, elegant and very comfortable. We were being budget conscious at the time we stayed and so didn't eat at the restaurant as we heard it was on the expensive side. The spa facilities at the Prince were very enjoyable especially the outdoor spa. - the hotel is clean and comfortable and the onsen is fabulous! there are one bath inside and one outside, sauna and places to wash yourself. position on the lake is spectacular but a bit isolated and restaurants in the hotel are expensive. they have a free shuttle service from Odawara station.
